Staighten the duvet as soon as you get out of bed in the morning, takes seconds and 50% of the room is now tidy!
I'm sure there are lots more I'll think of later.
You shouldn't do that as it doesn't allow the bed to airI was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I'm a bed airer too - no-one else will see the bed isn't made, so why bother?
Because I'm a lazy moo we have some rules about eating and drinking upstairs - it's simply not allowed, so no cups or glasses to come down.
I take my worn clothes off downstairs in the bathroom and put my robe or PJs on there.
Anything I'm wearing again gets hung at the bottom of the stairs till the next day, no point in putting it away, that's a waste of time, imho. That way there's no dirty washing of mine upstairs, so nothing misses the washing machine going on...
We got rid of the coffee table as (excuse the language) it was a $h!t3 magnet.... any horizontal space with nothing on it will automatically become cluttered, so the coffee table was always gathering cups and plates. I don't drink tea or coffee, so DH has a little table that he sits his cup on - it's the smallest one out of a nest of tables, can't fit more than a glass a cup and the TV remote on it.
We don't have many ornaments either, because I'm not into having clutter on display and because I'd also end up dusting it ( or not:rotfl:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Train your kids when they're little to put toys away and tidy their rooms and when they become rebellious teenagers don't venture back into their rooms until they leave home and you can reclaim them0

I think plumping the pillows up, brushing out any wrinkles from the bottom sheet and leaving the duvet folded back over bottom of bed allows bed to be aired and look tidy.
I am finding it really difficult to get rid of clutter from miscellaneous drawers (all the little bits and pieces that' might be useful one day' - so my method of dealing with this is to put them in a large lidded plastic box and if I haven't looked at them/ thought about them /used them after a couple of months then in the bin they will go. Piece of paper taped to lid with date on or will lose track of when they were 'sorted'.
I keep all my ornaments on one display shelf unit. So all fiddly dusting is in one place and other surfaces are relatively free and easy to swipe over with barely damp dusting cloth - to keep hold of the dust rather than redistribute it.
I leave stuff on the stairs to go upstairs or down but DH just doesn't pick a single thing up - not even his own stuff.
Throw away all odd socks - I have thrown away 18 today - kept them for ages but partner socks never turned up . Now I say thrown away but I've put them in a bag to use as a sort of glove for giving a final polish to my windows. Now if they sit in the airing cupboard unused for the next 6 months - I'll throw them out.
Empty dishwasher to make sure there is somewhere to put the dirty mugs and plates etc without leaving them hanging about.
Our sh*t magnet is the dining table which is on the way to the kitchen. It has table protector on the top to stop the polished surface getting scratched so it gets used as a dumping point, but I cannot bear to risk taking the cover off.:A0 -
I clean on a rota, so I do the bathroom and kitchen one day, the floors and polishing on another, the kids beds one day ours on another, ironing on another. The laundry as and well, and I keep everything organised. I have trained dh and the kids well, and I have a tidy and organised house now all the time, with minimal effort!0

Get yourself into a good routine:
Before you go to bed either put the DW on or set timer and the same with the WM
Before going to bed, make sure kitchen is clear and sides wiped (nothing worse coming down to a dirty kitchen!)
In morning, empty DW & WM (hang or TD)
Get dinner out of freezer to defrost etc or put SC on low
Spend 5 minutes in each room clearing stuff and wiping horizontals
I think keeping on top of housework shouldnt take anymore than 30mins a day. Once on top of it, probably less. Thats 15 mins each per day.

Tidy and clean things regular. The longer you leave it, the worse it gets and the longer it takes to clean it.Here I go again on my own....0 -
I gave up and got a cleaner. Best investment ever!
It means I only have to keep the place tidy and I do this regularly and have loads of boxes, drawers, units etc to help with this and mnimal ornaments and clutter. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
