I'm trying to use bicarb and white vinegar methods to clean the kitchen but everything seems to dry with a cloudy film on it. I've tried using different amounts but the problem is still there!!
Where am I going wrong? Does anyone have a fail safe "recipe" for day to day cleaning please?
I want to try it is the dishwasher too? Any suggestions about this aswell?
My son has really bad ecsema so as well as trying to save a few pennies we are trying to reduce the number of unnecessary chemicals he comes into contact with!!!
Any advice would be a huge help!!!
  • to clean the kitchen i get a skooshy bottle
    1 part vinegar
    1 part lemon juice
    4 part warm water

i add lemongrass oil to make it smell nice

    shake & use

excellent degreaser, and leaves everywhere gleaming

    my daughter has eczema too
we have been as chemical free as we can be for over 15 years
i make my own washing gel
i have tried various recipes for the dishwasher, but have yet to come across one i am happy with
i am kinda OCD about cleaning
    :rotfl:
  • Once clean, are you wiping over with clear water? this removes the residue, smell and potential for film.
Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!

er - you do have to wipe over with a clean damp cloth after using the bicarb and vinegar. I know that these days most products are just sprayed and wiped, but the old products almost always had to be rinsed off or buffed with a dry cloth! or both!!!

Thanks for the cleaning liquid recipe - would you be willing to share your washing gel recipe as well?
  • Maybe "washing gel" is the same as laundry gloop?
  • Thanks for the advice. Do you know whether vinegar works the same as lemon juice or do you just prefer the lemon juice?

I'd love to give the washing gel a try too. We're using soap nuts and they do seem to keep the day to day stuff clean but with 2 small boys there is plenty of not "day to day" stuff that is filthy and they don't crack that! The stuff doesn't smell nice when its done either!!!

I was concerned that using soda crystals in the washer may not be good for his skin as it is too harsh?

On the other hand, I have found that soda crystals work well in the dishwasher for cleaning stuff (actually better than the Super posh Finish ones i bought that don't seem to actually disolve on the eco setting of my dishwasher!) but you do need a rinse aid.
