The unions and Strikers are being very short sited. I agree that RM management have acted very badly over the past few years. All that striking will do is encourage business's to use other carriers other than RM. Then they will stick with them after the strike and RM will lose business so in the long term there could be Job losses and price increases for those of us that have no choice but to use Royal Mail

Hi, I live in the West Midlands and posted something on the 1st September and it still hasn't been received yet. I did know there were ongoing postal strikes in London as i have family there, but didn't realise it would affect the whole country. It was only when i went on to a different website to order something that is in Scotland was i told that it is affecting the whole country. So i think just wait a bit longer as something i posted on the 25th August was only received yesterday and don't forget the last weekend of August was a bank holiday in England, so there is probably a back log from that too.
Me too, I live in West minlands too and I sent 2 parcel to the same address to denmark and my sister in law still havent got them too. I really angry with royal mail:mad:

With people crying out for work why dont they take on temporary staff to get rid of the backlog, they may as well start early with Crimbo coming up, it will be good practice for them should they want to stay on for Xmas.
Some bloke has £20,000 outstanding to his business in the form of cheques in the post, how can they pulp the post, thought it was an offence to destroy/tamper with post???

Ive never been a supporter of strikes really, unfortunatly its genuinely reaching the point of no return with RM.
the top brass are just not listening(or not hearing) what happens at ground level.
on my last 'chat'(eg: a manager pulling me aside and asking what 'we' are going to do to complete my oversized duty) regarding my duty i was told in no uncertain terms my duty would not be cut even though he admitted its too long.
there have been 000's of job losses already and there will be more.its taken me over a year to get holidays authorised as we have had no staff
  • i have a small business, and i have 4 outstanding cheques in the post, not far of 10k in value...

posties just been for us- 5 parcels only. No "realmail" maybe that is coming later- I hope it all gets back to normal soon, but ultimately I do support the posties, and I do this the PO should be publically owned/managed.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I prefer not to get involved in the discussion about strikes as i believe that people should have the right to strike if that is the only way they can get attention from management. However, I do wonder if management are actally doing some deliveries in my area as one day this week my street got no post, yet at around 7pm at night a car drew up, made some deliveries to houses and drove off again. My neighbour got a whole bunch of items for several houses which she then hand delivered on later..and my missing Amazon book was among the items she had received.

We have been lucky in our area. None of the local Posties have gone on strike in any of the one day ones (or had any individual strikes) so we at least always get our local mail

what do you think given RM's legal obligations under the USO?

As I don't even know what USO means, I'm guessing said obligations aren't common knowledge outside the RM ;)
