  • Strikes here (Chelmsford, Essex) at the beginning of the week. Didn't stop the post being delivered, but no one was collecting from Post offices. As I am highly observant, I only realised when I went to post stuff on Wednesday, and noticed that the stuff I sent on Monday was still in the bag. *sigh*
  • My seller posted an item at end of aug. Still not received. Emailed seller who blamed strikes and refunded me! Was only a few pounds. Feel no reason not to believe them as they had emailed when they posted it. If it arrives, I will resend my payment to them for being so good.

I am sure that what you mean is 'If it arrives, I will of course pay for it again rather than defraud the seller' - not just because they have been so good! ;)
No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!:D

    Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target :(

I've had Amazon items that should have come last week appear on Wed this week. An Amazon Marketplace item still AWOL and another on-line order two days behind schedule. All were posted 1st class or Registered

The PO does have millions of items in heaps. The posties aren't much bothered, they are just doing today's items, as it all add to the union pressure on PO management by leaving the backlog untouched.

The only way of getting some certainty of delivery is to post SD, then the managers quite literally get on their bikes to deliver when a strike is on.

    !!!!!!! posties!

that would be a managerial decision
  • I ordered something from Ebay on the 1st September and it hasn't come:mad: i'm in Scotland, nil freebies either and i've applied for loads, some with confirmation like the Avon lipstick, Bold Gel.
    I love this place :j:T:j
  • To be fair, it was the beeb that reported the possibility of pulping...

Saw it on the news last night, I believe there are about 8 locations in London affected by strikes.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

In the Netherlands, the Dutch unions representing TNT postal workers announced on 3 April that they would embark on a rolling
programme of strike action in a bid to secure a fair wage deal. Workers represented by ABVAKABO FNV, a member of the Federatie
Nederlandse Vakbeweging and sister union FNV Bondgenoten, turned out in droves to agree the strike action at a meeting on 16 April
in Utrecht. The action began on 23 April in The Hague, with further action in Amsterdam on 25 April and others throughout May in
specific areas, culminating in a national strike on 27 May. Talks in the last months between Abvakabo and TNT to negotiate on a new
collective bargaining agreement broke down on 7 April when the union rejected the company's three per cent offer; the union is
demanding an agreement that includes a 3.5 per cent wage rise. Anneke Stevens, Head of Abvakabo's Postal Sector commented: "We
have been asking for 3.5 per cent from 1 April this year and TNT offers only 1.5 per cent on 1 April 2008 and 1,5 per cent on 1 January
2009, but only if we can agree on a collective bargaining agreement that does undermine workers' employment conditions." TNT is
hoping to make substantial savings in the years up to 2015 and anticipates cutting 7000 jobs and taking a range of other measures
including introducing a pay freeze and slashing pensions and overtime.

Hi, I live in the West Midlands and posted something on the 1st September and it still hasn't been received yet. I did know there were ongoing postal strikes in London as i have family there, but didn't realise it would affect the whole country. It was only when i went on to a different website to order something that is in Scotland was i told that it is affecting the whole country. So i think just wait a bit longer as something i posted on the 25th August was only received yesterday and don't forget the last weekend of August was a bank holiday in England, so there is probably a back log from that too.

Thanks for the reassurance, I've just started selling a few bits and bobs and had my first "it's not arrived" mail yesterday. I've panicked, talked to buyer etc, but I too live in West Mids and posted that day, so feel I can validly breathe for a day or two without worry!
