Ebay seller claims a postal strike on?

  • Hi - If I had posted something at the mo and the buyer was emailing me to say that they havnt received it, then I would be happy to scan in the certificate of posting to show when it was sent.

I have been warned by my postoffice when sending stuff today, that there are now strikes all over the country on different dates. Most mail is getting through without any problems, but some mail is being horribly backlogged.

As a seller , I use using cert of posting, always for ebay (not always for amazon!), and I would always refund any item not received, then get refund from royal mail. Im not sure though if there are extended timeframes for claiming from them with the strikes - does anyone else know.

If, though, your seller is telling porkies - check on the frank when the parcel arrives, then hit their dsr's!

    Thanks for all the comments.
I think the ones about strikes and the rights and the wrongs are best left for another day.
My point was, is it unreasonable to say that if something is paid for on 2nd Sep and seller quotes it will be posted 1st class recorded delivery to arrive before 7th Sep and its still not here then I have a complaint.
Looked at the item on my won page and its not even down as being posted yet so methinks strikes are a smokescreen for a lazy seller.

You have a complaint against the Royal mail yes, but not the seller if they posted it within the time frame they stated. As for marking things despatched, I find around 50% of the larger sellers I buy from never use the despatched button at all and i have received many items that apparently have never been despatched.

According to the union on the radio apparently they're all doing us a favour by going on strike?!
Yeah, tell that to our DSRs.
I'm sympathetic, I really am, but when it starts to impact on my business my patience starts to wear thin.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

Does anyone know if this will affect Parcel Force at all, or if it's just the "normal" post that's being screwed up?

I am apparently in an area affected by the strike and have just received a book posted 2nd class on the 9th September but I am still waiting for much older stuff to arrive. It looks like they are doing the current work first rather than delivering it in order..which is what happened last time in some areas if the chat on the Amazon boards is to be believed.

It's hardly the sellers fault there is a strike.

Your gripe is with RM and not the seller at this moment in time.

When your goods arrive, if the post mark is the date he said he sent then he's kept his side of the deal IMHO.

Definately strikes, we have had 2 days post in two weeks here in Central london eeek.

We were going to get some travel money sent here for our holidays, but im not convinced this is a good idea now.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • My seller posted an item at end of aug. Still not received. Emailed seller who blamed strikes and refunded me! Was only a few pounds. Feel no reason not to believe them as they had emailed when they posted it. If it arrives, I will resend my payment to them for being so good.

if RM keep going the way its going the service WILL get worse
eg my new computer calculated walk is way too long.
i work over every day (paid) to complete the duty.
RM's answer to this is do nothing.
so i wont be doing this every day.
what do you think happens to the mail i cant/dont deliver?
