Ebay seller claims a postal strike on?

Options
Hi
Wondering if anyone can help here.
I bought an item via eBay and the seller is from London.Item was paid for on 2nd September and I have still not received it.
Contacted seller regards this and they claim there is or was a postal strike in London and that item has been caught up in this.
Is this true:confused: I dont seem to recall anything regards postal strike or is it just the seller telling porkies here:mad:
Anyone help?

Well that depends where you live too...

If you don't live in London, then you wouldn't hear about any local London strikes.

In Oxfordshire (Swindon), they've just finished another strike, and the backlog is horrendous!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Well I live in Scotland and its true I wouldn't hear of any local strikes yes.
Surely would be a good seller policy though to inform me of any delays no?
Checked sellers feedback and others seem to happy with deliveries and timescales so how is it just my item thats held up:mad:
  • There's one on at Peterborough. Or it's just finished. Or it starts soon... can you tell I wasn't paying much attention when I was told about it? :o

But yes, strikes are going on in various places at the moment.

  • There's definitely been strikes affecting South and South West London reported on the local news. I think they've been wildcat strikes up until now but are becoming more co-ordinated and widespread.

It may just be an unfounded rumour but it was reported that in some parts of the country the backlog is so bad that the PO are considering shredding post as they'll never get round to delivering it!

That "rumour" can be filed under the "utter bo11ocks" category.

The seller may be telling the truth or may just be using it as an excuse. What is the sellers Feedback like and there DSRs for dispatch time? If I know of strikes delays I always inform my customers. I would probably give it untill early next week and then open an INR in paypal. Ive received quite a few things from the London area (i'm in Scotland) with no delays over the past week

to be fair strikes are not that well publicised
you say you are in Scotland so do you know of the Scottish ones?
if the seller started putting about strikes on the listings then people may not buy
if they emailed you after buying you may become anxious over nothing

Or buyer may give them a little more leeway and not trash your DSRs
