My Kitten is Evil! What to do?

Why not try rewarding good behaviour for a while instead of telling him off?
Fer instance, our cat enjoys scratching the carpet stairs rather than the scratching post right next to him .. but just saying "Bad Kitty!" won't make any difference. He doesn't understand, he'll just wonder why you're shouting and carry on doing what comes naturally, or worse, get scared and nervous and start leaving puddles around.
However, if he uses the scratching post instead, he get lots of nice fuss and strokes, and eventually realises that its a much better thing to do. Problem solved! He now loves his scratching post more than anything else (except his food, obviously..!). Lots of bad behaviour can be improved this way.
Try distracting him when he's doing something bad with something more fun and human-approved, like a dangly toy or a treat, and then give him lots of fuss and attention. It certainly helped our little horrors! Having said that we do have to put our kitties in 'time out' sometimes.. but only so they can calm down, not because we think they know what that means.0 -

All cats are evil, but some are more subtle and duplicitous.
My cat, known as evil cat, is completely evil, but specialises in psychological warfare (with random violence added).
I echo the squirt gun idea, I use a spray that you get for house plants on a jet setting. It doesn't actually do much except make them reluctant to be caught but it does cut down on the number of incidents.
Orange oil deters a lot of cats if you want to stop them shredding solid wood banisters but some cats are too evil to care. I once put olbas oil on my hand to stop evil cat biting, and she just licked it off before biting me. A citrus scent on your clothes/hands etc may deter. Sorry but that made me laugh, just picturing it has me in fits, i have a cat but did have 2, brothers, until one ran off - charming! but they used to play with each other an never bother with me really, Timmy now is so affectionate and loves sleeping next to me but still has his moments of playing and grips my arm and kicks his back legs, and he is 3 years old now.0 -
The average kitten is just a psycopath in a very cute furry suit. I've had curtain climbers, leg climbers, ones that would launch themselves from the bed onto your trouser leg claws first, toe chewers (learning to sleep without wiggling your toes a milimetre is an art form)... the whole lot of them - nutcases in furry packages.
They still reduce me to maternal quivering mushy pools of "awwwwwwww" though - even though the fur just hides the horns!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Im having the same problem with my puppy. the other day she ran across the living room and launched herself and bit my bum, then she launched at the sofa and bit my toe and heel. she hangs on your trouser legs and shakes her head and growls.
When you fill the washer she runs of with the washing. Hoovering and mopping are impossible cos she goes into attack mode. lol.
If you try and have a lay in, she jumps on your head and bites your ears.0 -
At uni one of my housemates had a lovely little kitten, who grew into a gorgeous cat. When she was still little, if she ever tried to claw my friend, she would push her down gently to the floor and hiss at her (presumably something that the mother would do?). After a couple of times of doing that we were able to play with her quite roughly but she would never ever claw us because she knew it was naughty! She did like going for feet though
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

What about a change of diet to a more natural/ biologically appropriate diet? Just like humans, some pets can be sensitive to additives and many of the commercial foods are full of all sorts of rubbish.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
