  • Hahahahaha - I had a cat called Spook and he used to do the same right up until he ran off and left after 8 years. His favourite trick was to hide on top of my wardrobe and then wait until I was asleep and launch himself onto my back or tummy. He never grew out of it - sigh!

My kitten is a bit fierce sometimes, however she is 5 months old now and goes outside, and loves to run up the tree over the road, I'd feel like i was cheating her if i clipped her claws, she loves that tree

  • My kitten Chloe was like this when we first got her - it was a nightmare, we got her a friend Theo about a month later and after that she has been so much better. She is so busy playing with him all the time that she doesn't bother us much but she does still like to bite my fingers when she can!

Would it be possible to get her a companion?
  • The idea of a companion is somthing I really struggled with when I got her, do I have two or one. I would prefer to stick with just one for now, incase she traumatised another kitten.

She does have her cute moments, especially when she is carrying her fav sock in her mouth, bless her.

I told her is she didnt behave I would send her to live with the RSPCA! (I dont mean it) I dont think she understands, lol

Thanks for all your support, it is the first time I have only had one kitten, so I am sure that has had an effect, as all my others were less aggresive. I will be trying to make her calmer. I am hoping this is good preperation for when I have kids! lol

I currently have a litter of 7 week old kittens and they are just the same especially as there is 9 of them so they are really mischeifous, she will grown out it :) They scratch me to shreds one ran over my foot and cut it wide open.. ouch.
Theres 2 types of horse owner, a person who owns a horse and a horsey person ;)
  • TBH i would recommend 2 all the way and have done frequently - as a breeder you have to be careful, because people might think you are just trying to sell 2 although I always gave a significant reduction for 2. I would always put them in touch with the Cats Protection league if they only wanted one and didn't have another cat at home.

The scratching post will help to keep the claws shorter - you could get a large branch perhaps?

    Hmmm.

We had our current cat almost 9 years ago, he was a farm kitten (probably a bad idea but I'd fallen in love with him before my brain kicked into gear), he was only about 5 weeks old and obviously the boss of the litter.

Well, we'd only had him 18 hours and it was clear that he was seriously ill.
The vet said he'd got pneumonia and cat flu and couldn't/wouldn't say if he'd pull through, it depended on how determined he was.
When it took 3 of us to hold him down to give him an injection, the vet did say that 'there was a 'side' to him'.

He was very ill for over a week, we had to hand feed him and then give him water through a syringe as he'd stopped drinking.
As his breathing was very laboured we had wet tea-towels on the radiators with drops of Olbas Oil on (what a stink!).

    And then.....
    it started.

He was manic, he bounced off walls and furniture and just ran riot.
I've had cats (from kittens) for over 30 years and have never seen anything like it.
When I picked him up, he'd bite my nose. He took swipes at us as we walked past.
Sometimes he just launches himself at us and digs his claws and teeth in for no reason at all.
If I tell him off, he goes and and batters his ping-pong balls up and down the hall in a paddy.
It's really a constant battle to keep on top of him.

We do think that his brain got a bit cross-wired when he was so ill so we've always cut him some slack.

He's never lost that feral instinct and has been a phenomenal hunter, always eating his catches after bringing them to me for my approval.
Sometimes he looks at my OH as though to say 'Who are you? And what are you doing in my house?'
He will just not have anything to do with anyone else, he acts like they're invisible if they try to talk to him or pet him.

But for all his faults, we still love him.

I'm sure that Ninja will grow out of it with a bit of perseverance and discipline.

When we went to collect our kitten she came running up to us while the other kittens hid and I fell in love with her straight away because I thought she wanted us to pick her. What a mistake!! She is a nightmare!! Shes always bit people and scratched them and she would hang off your trousers all day if you let her. Shes 2 years old now and still the same. If im sitting on the sofa watching TV she thinks thats an invite to attack you. She'll shake her bum and her eyes will go HUGE and then she'll pounce and bite you so hard (shes drew blood plenty of times) and kick you with her back legs. And then when you get her off and say NO she goes for your face and this will go on for ages.

And then when we moved she managed to escape (she was an indoor cat at our previous home) and went missing for a few weeks, when we found her she wanted to go out and cried at the door, now shes at a new home shes so happy because now she go out and burn off all her energy outside.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Germolene is very helpful, I had a tube in each room till kitten was spayed and could go out and climb trees and play rough games with her sister who lives next door,
I found a good thing to occupy her when she was having a crazy half hour was a geat big bit of brown paper (it came in a parcel or newspapers would do) scrunched up to make a big pile she could jump into, hide in and added lots of toys in the pile (like a lucky dip) then she would jump in and out of it till she was worn out. Another good trick is to open all the cupboards in one room for a treat so she can have a nice nose about.

I know I've posted this before but this article on my vets website has a great section on training and aggresiveness which I found useful and would highly recommend reading the whole thing for any new kitten owners.http://www.merialvetsite.com/sites/towervets/special.php?content=veterinary_catsmain
