After three screenings of Inception and one of Avatar, it's just my personal opinion that makes me prefer the former. I'm seduced by the music, the storyline, the layering, and the action (in no particular order). The re-release of Avatar is meant to have some unseen footage, so that will pull peeps into the cinema.
I would say go with what you want to see personally. Take a look at the trailers and read the synopsis.
I agree that time is something we have to use wisely, but I'm glad I've spent several hours watching both movies.
Okay, if anything, I'll say go for both. Or if you already have Avatar on DVD, go to see Inception. Your choice.
Without wishing to sway your decision, I would say this about Avatar. If you have the opportunity to see it in 3D then that is the best way to see it especially if it is your first viewing. It is a beautiful film to see, actually it is stunning. You won't get the same effect watching it at home on DVD.
Having said that Inception will leave your little mind thinking when you come out!:p0 -
I went to see the most wonderful film earlier this week.
The Secret in Their Eyes won Best Foreign Language Oscar 2010 and deservedly so. It's a fabulous film and if you get the opportunity to watch it, I urge you do so.

Awesome movie pooch, saw it last week!
Whilst on the subject of foreign movies, The White Ribbon was also a strong contender for the best foreign film in 2010.
And one of my favourite films of all time is german "The Lives of Others"0 -
Oh SHucks, just missed out on The Town, was looking at Wandsworth0

Well if you recall, the White Ribbon was the film expected to win, I certainly thought it was the winner and was shocked into silence when this 'unknown' film won and that doesn't happen often:rotfl:
I haven't seen The Lives of Others, must look out for that one.:)0 -
With regards to the Avatr Inception debate, fwiw my opinion to go see Avatar.
Not because Avatar is a better film then inception - far from. I thought Inception was an excellent film, and had me gripped throughout, whereas Avatar is an average, predictable, jumpy & too overlly moralistic a film. However I went back to see it again (paid for) because the 3D is AMAZING! I've seen other 3D film before & after, both ones that were made for 3D & ones where 3D was an afterthought - and none of them match up to Avatar.
So I would go see Avatar just for the 3D - coz you may not get another chance!0 -
