  • Some people like one of those movies more than the other, some people like both equally, and some people just don't rate either. It all boils down to personal opinion really.

Essentially, with no personal opinion involved, both are original and unique stories and both have strengths and weaknesses. You won't find a movie that 'fits all' - there will always be someone who just doesn't see what all the fuss is about, while yet others rave incessantly.

Unfortunately for me I totally expected more from both movies, after all the hype from other people I was expecting something mind blow, and both failed to produce.

I saw Avatar in 3D IMAX and the effects were amazing, my first 3D movie, it felt as though you were actually in the movie at some points. But other than that it was just an ordinary film (certainly not needing a rerun in cinemas)

Inception was interesting, but still not a mind blowing great movie. some of the effects were great and some very nice pieces of acting at times. but I left the cinema feeling a bit let down

I'd watch Blindside over both of these any day of the week, maybe it was the total surprise of such a great movie.... maybe its just better than the above :)
  • A quick internet search on the promotion relating to the Russian Vodka London screenings code posted a few minutes ago indicates that similar codes should be following over the next few weeks for similar screenings in Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Cardiff. One to keep an eye out for.

This is what I wrote when I first saw Avatar (when released the first time round):

I'm a bit divided with this movie.

After having seen the 15 minutes preview, I wrongly envisioned a different type of movie all together.

Don't get me wrong, I did like it, but I was slightly disappointed when presented with a somewhat weak instead of convoluted story that I had expected to be engrossed by.

I did route for the characters near the end, but continually getting pulled back and forth made me feel as flat as the avatars when the plug was pulled.

Although I did manage to keep my enthusiasm inflated to watch the entire movie, without dozing off, it all seemed a tad predictable and lacklustre.

The ending fared well - with the promise of a sequel? Hopefully, then one with a more thought out plot than the first.

The visuals were stunning, though. The colour vibrant. Yes, I had entered the world of Pandora, but my journey there seemed to stop short of a tree - then crashed and burned. I would, however, like the chance to explore the place at little better next time. More in-depth and more involved.

I somehow doubt the extra 9 minutes added with the re-release would change my mind from what it was before.

I did like the movie overall, though.

However, even with Inception, there are flat moments (just as any rollercoaster has) and the lack of chemistry between Cobb and Mal is just something of a bugbear for me throughout the movie. I don't rate either of them as actors (just my view, remember). However, I just love the movie in its entirety, and I mean love it.

I just didn't like The Blind Side at all, with the exception of the humour from the little boy.

Isn't it great that we all have different opinions and views.

The movie industry has a tough job catering for all of our expectations, great or not so great.

They've posted at the bottom of the message quoting the info posted by rummy saying they have got tickets for wrong location. I sent a pm as soon as it was posted whilst they were still online, asking if they could delete the post, sent a link to this thread and explained why they should post on here plus I sent the address to return tickets and a bit more info.

I have no scruples, I will gladly accept some of the free vodka as a thank you with it not making it outside of London :rotfl:

I promise to share with the friend who kindly gave me the info in the first place.
