What yeast and flour works for you in a breadmaker ??

I used to use thisin my BM ages ago, then they changed the pack instructions (without my noticing). I continued for a while without ill effects
I now use the empty tin to fill with the Dove Farm yeast (in the orange packet).

I initially bought the Allinsons for making bread by hand and it worked great with the long rise times. I then acquired a BM and it didn't rise very well the first few times. I upped the amount using a multiplication factor i found somewhere online (fast action vs general dried active yeast) but it still didn't rise so well.
Used hovis fast action sachets and they worked perfectly everytime with the instructed quantities. I've just now bought some Doves Farm from Lakeland, and the BM is going with that now, so will probably transfer that into the Allinsons tub too!0 -
Hmmm - I tried that but the bread just smelled really yeasty and didn't rise as well as usual - will give it another go!xxx Nikki xxx0

- what's the difference if I use plain white flour in the BM instead of strong white flour? Will it taste different? Or does it muck up the texture. Or both?

In my experience the bread isn’t quite as firm/heavy and doesn’t seem to rise as much if you use plain flour, but that’s about it!0 -
Thanks all, I just wondered as I have no SWF left but plenty of PWF. I will give it a go and see what happens.

Bread flour has a higher gluten content than plain flour, so it will make a difference to the rise and texture of the bread.0
