What yeast and flour works for you in a breadmaker ??

I have just become the proud owner of a second-hand Team International "Rapido" bread-maker for the princely sum of £15.
When I got it home I didn't have any strong bread flour in the cupboard and couldn't wait so just used Lidl's ordinary plain flour with Allinson's dried yeast and crossed my fingers. It came out really, really well so I'm not going to bother with the bread flour at all in future.
Just experimented with replacing one third of the flour with a 50/50 mix of cheapo porridge oats and organic rye flakes courtesy of Approved Food and it's so good.
Can't wait to eat that all up and experiment with something else. Maybe poppy or sunflower seeds; the possibilities are endless it seems, especially since a friend treated me to a bread-maker recipe book at the weekend.....0 -
Why can't I use normal dry active yeast In my new breadmaker? It says to buy bread making yeast for bread making machines?
Surely if I dissolve in the water needed for m bread I should ave a good result? And I've noticed the bread making yeast for machines costs a little more?Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

I think it is because the recipes are set up so you can use the timer if you wish. If you are not using the timer there is no reason why you couldn't use the other yeast
I often use fresh yeast for example in my machine.0 -
I just use Allinsons dried active yeast in mine; I don't dissolve it in water. I never use the timer though."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

I've diluted it in the amount of water specified in Luke warm water and stirred just hoping it will rise?
I am so excited to try it as my mum bought it me for Xmas as I'm trying to save some penniesDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

I use Doves Farm yeast in my BM - it goes on the top of the flour so I can use the timer function if I need to (don't very often as the yummy smell wakes up the kids at stupid o'clock at least an hour before it is ready
).
I also keep it in the freezer & take it out just before I use it - never had a problem with it going off & the bread not rising. Very easy to use.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Thanks I panicked when I saw not for breadmakers on my yeast tin and in the instruction manual.
But I just thought yeast is yeast...right? Lol
Oh well done it anyway so fingers crossedDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j
