  • I don't use a breadmaker but my family loves Allinson's Seed and Grain Flour. It makes a scrummy nutty tasting loaf. For wholemeal loaves I just use a supermarket own brand wholemeal bread flour but I always make it with at least a third white flour so that it rises well. I use a supermarket own brand white bread flour too.

The yeast I use is Dove's Farm Quick Yeast. it's the same stuff as the kind that comes in sachets but with much less packaging;)

I can second the vote for Allinson's flours - they do some really nice ones that are a bit different to the standard wholemeal or white - their barley one is particularly scrummy (if a bit difficult to find - I only know one place that sells it).

For sandwiches I tend to use half brown flour, half white - it's pretty much the best of both worlds, I find! I've been using Asda's own brand yeast for the past few months, because that's all I could get last time I needed some - I know a few people on here reckon it's rubbish but I've had no problems.

  • Hi there
I use half Lidl's white bread flour and half any shop brand wholemeal bread flour and always add a couple of handfuls of my seed mix which consists of sunflower, golden linseed and poppy seeds.

It makes a lovely light loaf with plenty of flavour and a bit of bite from the seeds.

    I've got that yeast.

I'm on my second bag of flour, I can't remember what the first loaf was - it was a branded bag, but not Hovis, kicking myself now I can't remember (it "might" have been Allisons premium).
Then I bought the large 3kg Allisons & the bread isn't as white & soft.
I bought Waitrose own brand of white bread flour to try next.

Any white recommendations that produce soft white (cloud like) bread.

I've used Allisons and Mr Ts own brand and both were okay both white and wholemeal. I've been using own brand powdered yeast sachets and it works out at about half a sachet for each loaf. I think there were 8 packets in the box.

I find Dove's flour the best and also use the orange packets of Dove's yeast.
  • I use Allisons yeast and Allisons country grain flour..I think thats what its called, its in a brown bag. I used to use Hovis but our Morrisons only stocks Allisons now, not even an own brand bread flour. I've never had a problems with it.
