grr i hate indian call centres, theyre soo slow and you can barely understand each other. at least uk call centres you can understand each other and theyre not so slow as they can read the english instructions on their screen easily

I just took a 6 month contract for £15 a month and got a free phone (Nokia 6288), so if everything goes well I think I will be very happy with this deal. Let's hope I won't have any problems with them. (OH has a contract with them and everything went well except that they forgot to give him the £30 credit from a friend recommended and had to call them loads of time)

how did you get a 6 mth contract? ive never seen one

You're right - in fact, right after that, I had to call Plusnet, and it was answered straight away by a very cheery Mancunian chap, problem solved in 2 minutes and we had a quick chat about the flooding. "Cheers mate, bye!". Very refreshing.

    Hi All,

    Phone: Sony W800i
    18month contract 500 mins x network £15 month

Chose 3 because of price and special offer on Sony phone, has 3.2megapixel camera - takes exc pics - no need to carry separate camera.
No problems with phone (dropped loads of times, bounces quite well), network coverage and connections etc all ok in the depths of rural Lincolnshire, odd blind spots.
Only problem getting payment/credit for recommending other users, but paid after a reminder phone call.
New 3 shop opened in local town centre, so if i have a problem now i usually pop in the shop instead of phoning customer service, they've always solved the problem there and then.
Overall, I'm quids in and very happy with 3.

    Regards Mark.

The SE K770i i have has an inherent problem, it cant be fixed. My contract is £15 per mth + £3 for the benefit of having a K770i. (im 6mth into 18mth contract) They`ve agreed to exchange this for a SE660i or a Nokia 6120 both cheaper phones wich currently they do for £15 all, but if i exchage i`ve still to pay £18 per month! Do you get it? coz the androids in Asia at 3CS dont, and its not negotiable. Truely the worst service in history id say, and as i said elsewhere, renew with 3????? I`d rather burn my own house down.

PS; im in Dundee its been impossible to speak to anyone in the UK about my problem, everything including their CS is in Asia, the shop in Dundee said they cant do anything, but did say i should be intitled to a better phn than they were offering but had to go through CS, in all id get better progress talking to my own toilet, so im off to give it a go lol. Im so mad i just cant wait for the time i can tell the not so politely to bog off.

if you sign up for one of their normal 18 month contracts and select an older model phone. you get the option of cancelling your contract after 6 months.

I've just taken out a 300 mix and match contract (via quidco + refer a friend + promo-code) and selected the Nokia 6120 (mainly because i want to use the Skype functionality to call my folks back home, its free and i like Nokia phones!).

The picture of the Nokia 6120 has a note next to it that says "just 6 month min term". I called customer services to find out more they confirmed that on some of the older models you are allowed to cancel after 6 months and not have to pay any cancellation fees
  • My wife bought a 3 phone from Luton - a Nokia (not sure which) on the £15 per month deal. Very recently, the display went dead. She took it back and the store sent it off. It was returned with a photo of an apparent water spot on the board (she doesn't know how or when it received water damage - she would tell me if she knew).
The store apprently said that because it was water damage(?), they were not contractually obliged to do anything, and she would have to wait until July when she was due for a phone upgrade. Now she is left without a mobile (with 3 young children to get to school and back). Not in my opinion a very good customer service.
To make matters worse, I have a spare mobile, but the 3 SIM is not transferrable (something you may want to consider when choosing 18 month contract).
On the other hand, I am with Virgin/Orange/anyone else who deos better at the time PAYG. I may pay a little more, but I'm not left without a phone for a month due to mysterious water damage.

But how do you know you wouldn't be left without a phone for a month due to mysterious water damage with Virgin, Orange or anyone else?
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Because, you simply remove your SIM card, place it into that old phone you have lying around (or see another one of Martin's most excellent forums for a cheap standby phone) and away you go. You are not left paying £15 for the rest of the month for the privillege of having no comms.
