3 is the cheapest, but is it best

Having read so many negative comments on the 3 network, I think it's only fair to post my point of view.
I have been with 3 for two years now, and in all that time I have never had a problem with neither coverage nor their customer service.
I on the other think that it is a very good network that has offers that other big competitors like Vodafone or 02 can’t compete with most of the time.
The positive thing about having these offers is that they are forcing the other big players to bring down the prices and offer better deals every time.
I had a problem with the handset that I received on my first contract, but went into their store and was given a brand new one the same day.
My Score on 3 : 8/10 :T0 -
Well, I've only been 'trialing' them for a month on PAYG checking out coverage, web access, skype, TV and find them a pleasure to use! I ended up keeping the PAYG sim in my phone more than my TM contract SIM.
Very innovative and seem to have got in a new top man that has sorted them out.
No more glued in SIMS, warnings and termination of service if you use a non 3 phone etc.
Also must be the cheapest PAYG and when you include Skype etc, very good value indeed.
Got my PAC to move to 3 PAYG todayalthough TM are good too, just the idea of being contract free is to much of a pull.

I had just agreed to my first mobile phone contract through T3 Direct a few days ago, when I found a couple of threads about Three Network and also T3 Direct, which left me a little concerned.
Having waded through this thread it seems that peoples experiences with 3 Network are mixed, but that is perhaps no different to problems people have with other handsets, coverage/areas, networks etc.
Some people have had problems with T3 Direct, and I wondered if anyone had got a 3 contract from T3 Direct which went OK with no issues relating to T3 Direct?
Thanks,

Hi, i joined three back in 2006 and instantly had a crap reception, dropped calls, incoming calls going straight to answer phone etc.everytime i phoned three ( india barely understandable )they said to try different settings on the handset, they didnt have a clue if you ask me. i could get through about 1 in every 5 calls which when running a business is completly unexecptable, i was used to a o2 contract which was perfect for the same money. i was however going over my free minutes still, while i was still unhappy with the service, i was told i couldnt get out for 18 months so i tried to make the best out of a crap situation and upped my contract to include more free minutes to reduce my bills. after this though the line just got worse and worse, even tring to phone three themselves was imposible, you just couldnt relly on this phone at all. i contacted three and asked for the buy out price for the contract and was told it would be over £300, i said ide pay them £150 as thats the most there service was worth which they refused, so i paid the bill upto date then refused them anymore money as i seen this as a breech of the contract as they could not supply me with a sutible reception. three never contacted me again for over a year when they sent a baliff round, i explained the situation and they left. after consulting a solictor(costing me over £700) three agreed to except the £150 ide offered two years back but refused to remove the default they are still recording against me, somthing i insist on as this should be a dispute and not default. I phoned three and asked for the name they provided to me and was told there not in the office and would phone back, ive since phoned them 5 times and they still have not responded. i cant even pay them now!! has anyone any advice on the default?? i dont think that i should have to pay them at all for the service they provided, plus the damage they have done to my credit. is there a way of forcing them to remove the default as i have tried for over 2 years to sort this out and it is them, not me, that is not responding in a satasfactory manor, which as far as i understand it is what a default is ment to show. thanks for any help anyone can give me0

i was with 3 and o2 before them. no problems with the network as i have with work voda phone, but 3's customer service is generally dreadful. i am not racist but i want to speak with someone who understands what i'm telling them. i was called a liar about a broken phone twice by them and they never call you back when asked.
i'm back on o2 simplicity now and i can't fault o2 customer service. british based and they know what your telling them first time.
as for value, i think 3's new tarriffs are bad. i had 1400 texts and 300 anytime mins, £5 downloads and free voicemail, 50 pic message and 50 video on 3's old tarrif for £15. their £15 one now doesn't touch it.0 -
totally agree with you ianh82..i aint racist either, but id rather talk to an english talking person than indian, have had great trouble trying to get them to understand, and me trying to understand them.. I was mis-led by 3, they sold me 2 extra phone contracts as my other 2 were due to finish,(me & the missus). they assured me that these new contracts would take over from the current ones when they ended. anyway, a couple of months later, they were trying to take money out for 4 contracts, well of course i didnt budget for that, so i got fined by the bank many times, then just got deeper in debt... it turned out that the person who sold me the 2 new contracts, even though he had my name and details and said he was from 3, he wasnt, it was an agent working on behalf of 3 or whatever... totally screwed by them, left in a financial mess.. i have contacted 3 a few times, dont get any joy at all outta them...plus 1 of the new phones broke, they did not believe it had happened by accident, it has to have been the worst service i have ever experienced by any mobile company.......but saying all that, if you take away the bad customer service and being conned , it was not too bad
.. there has to be somewhere to make official complaints, but i cant find it.. tried with 3, but just go round in circles...

that sucks arthur!
have you tried ofcom, i believe you can raise problems with them if they cover mobile networks?
i had a 3 company call me to offer me a mega deal which he did on the N95, but i said i had 2 mths left on my present one he said 'oh, then you dont need this one now then, i'll call u back' he never did. shame really, £20 for n95 based on 750 texts and everything as my current contract was. and for 12 mths!0 -
hi, yep, i did try them, well i think i did, i know i even sent an email to watchdog.. i will give it a try with ofcom, just incase i didnt try them before..
that would have been a nice deal there ianh..maybe they may get back to you, but be careful, sometimes its an agent, i found it best now , if i want to get in touch with 3, i ring them on 333 from my mobile..just to be on the safe sideCorduroy pillows are making headlines!
