It's not a 3G phone...Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

can anybodyhelp? I am on the 3 network and needed a new phone. 3 have offered me a really good deal that does not include a phone. I have just bought a Samsung E250 from Tescos and had it unlocked. My 3 sim is not working in it. Is there anything I can do to make it work. Thanks in advance!
Plenty on e-bay so make sure it is 3G.
I have just been upgraded so have an old one to dispose of, as I'm sure do many others. They are not too hard to come by, but make sure it is 3G.:beer:Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
I've just had an upgrade from Three and I have to say that the Call Centre staff are far better than they were last year when I had to deal with them.
I don't have any problems with reception here in London hence the reason I renewed my contract with them.:D0 -
Thanks for coming back to me, must of had a blonde moment when I bought it. I have since been told that I must buy a 3 network phone not just 3G. Have been told that 3 will block the sim card if I dont. Does anyone know if this is true?
Three have offered me an excellent retention package, 500 mins and 100 free text for a fiver a month for life, but dont get upgrade. So I dont want to leave but dont want to pay #150 quoted by the 3 call centre for a new phone! Thanks for any help you can offer0 -

It does have to be a 3G handset, but not necessarily one issued by Three the network. Basically any 3G handset will work.
As for having the handset blocked, I've been told by a friend who works for Three that they will do this. Hope this helps.0 -
For your information, they do it because Three falls back to using someone else's 2G network when out of the coverage area, for which Three has to pay. If you use a 2G phone, you will never be able to use Three's network, so Three will be paying all the time.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Handset: Nokia E65
Most commonly used location: Bradford
Ease and reliability and connection: The phone is very easy to use, can't complain about it. The network on the other hand is another story. Numerous problems such as; calls dropped, echoing on calls, calls not allowed, emergency calls only etc etc
Any other problems: Indian call centre. I wish companies wouldn't move their call centres to India, we all know why they do it (cheap), but come on, we're all fed up of them now.
I complained and complained and complained about the network "not being fit for purpose". After 5 weeks of constant calls and them telling me "You have perfect network coverage in your area" they have terminated my contract with no fees to pay. Quite pleased as I was in month 5 of an 18 month contract.
I'm now going with O2.
In the end you get what you pay for. Pay peanuts and you'll get monkeys !
Do not touch Three.
Overall service and rating (out of 10): 0/10"Holding On For Dear Life" - read my true story of when my fiance suffered a stroke exactly 3 weeks before our wedding.
Available for the Amazon Kindle or iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch via iTunes.0 -
I've been with 3 for about 18 months, I used to travel all over the country with my job and have often found my phone to be more reliable than those of my colleagues on other networks. At the moment I've got an old Nokia handset because my dog checked through the cable of my newer model :-)
The only time I've had a problem with coverage was in Kefalonia this year but it seems most people did. On the odd occasion that I've needed to speak to customer service i.e. to swap tariff, they've been fantastic.
It might go against the trend but I have to say my experience with 3 has been FANTASTIC0 -
I have been with 3 for the last 2yrs. I have a nokia 6680 handset. The reception where I work( Pontefract) is good. I get good reception inside some buildings where my friends with Orange don't get any reception. I feel 3 are better than orange!! As for customer services it does not matter whether your call centre is in India or UK. Just try calling customer services of some companies like phones4u and you will understand what I mean!!0

Been with 3 for 4 years nearly.
Used V3 Razr and now on Sony Ericsson 810i
Coverage i find is great. Customer service leaves a little to be desired and communication can sometimes be an issue with them but you always get there in the end. Phone repair / replacement is quick (3 day turn around).
Overall I'd give it a solid 7.5 /8 out of 10.0
