i just checked my balance on my phone and i noticed that it said i had almost 2GB worth of data allowance left. i aint complaining as although i have unlimited internet as part of my contract their fair usage was only 1GB. they must have changed it and not told me, it is also telling me how much i have left, which is something it has never done before.

I noticed the 2gb limit a couple of weeks ago but assumed it was because I have a Blackberry. Perhaps it's now standard, as you say. Displaying how much of the data allowance is left is very handy. It was a bit frustrating in the past trying to check your usage only to be told "you have not used any data beyond your allowance" (or whatever the exact wording was).

i dont think the 2gb is standard as my wifes phone hasnt changed, hers is still showing only as 500mb allowance.

  • I upgraded in June 2010, I got HTC Hero in white (It sold for £220 on ebay), £150 Comet Vouchers Plus my tarrif was lowered and all bundles increased. From £26.50 a month (750 mins + Unlimited texts), I went to £20.00 with 1200mins + 2000 landlines mins + 3000 texts + 5000 Three to Three mins + 1024MB Internet which I never used. The three network is good value for money only if you get a signal.

I work for a phone repair company and I debranded my initial handset then manually changed to GSM band which gave me only a 2G signal (Orange). It was ok for past 3 years until in August signal went dead. Ask Three CS and they told me to hang on until they sort out the problem. They compensated mt £20 for hassles, constant chasing up then eventually issued me with a PAC code because there 3G signal was near zero and there agreement with Orange had ended. I`m now on T-mobile, activated the share with Orange signal and managed to manually jam my phone onto Orange permanently.

All, just a heads up that I recently purchased a sim only deal with three. For a tenner a month, it's okay.

My warning to you is to not put too much stock into their offer to give you a £10 voucher for their accessories shop unless you really really need some sort of accessory.

The items in the store are very limited (they show pictures of PC USB memory sticks...but don't actually sell any!). Arguably prices are inflated so that the £10 voucher may not be worth it's face value.

I've had my voucher two months now and it's valid only for another month. But I simply can't find anything on there worth buying that I can't get cheaper on Amazon or Ebay even without a voucher.
  • also the reason why Three is cheaper is because three does not have the costs of upgrading its network infrastructure, it was originally designed for 3G whereas all other networks were originally designed to handle 2G only. thus having a massive cost to upgrade their respective networks.

  • Handset:
    E71

    Most commonly used location:
    Home (Ellistown) & Work (Coalville)

    Ease and reliability and connection:
    Home: 1bar 3G intermittently Work: 4/5 bar 3G reliable

    Any other problems:
Three just turned off 2g making them the worst network in my home area.

Overall service and rating (out of 10):
    blog.three.co.uk admins 10/10
Three's call centre 1/10 (Call centre told me there would be more 3g towers to compensate from turning off 2g - this was a lie, there are no planned towers in my area - Three are turning off 2g where they deem 3g is strong)
Three overall 2/10 - without 2g, it's an unreliable network for me.

I debranded my E71 and did the same, locked onto GSM at home for the strong 2G signal and BOTH for out and about. I upgraded to an iPhone 4 at the end of this Oct and just as luck would have it, Three turned off 2g for my postcode. The iPhone then only got 1bar 3G. I returned it thankfully. Now I may try and get my PAC code early because of the poor 3G signal.

Ignore all 14 day money back guarantees as they don't honour them.

Consumer Direct have been helping me but they have just referred my case to Trading Standards. Hopefully 'three' will see the error of their ways any day now.

I'm itching to call Watchdog but I'll wait to see how Trading Standards get on. Good luck to anyone who's just signed up with these cowboys.[/QUOTE]
I am currently battling with 3 regarding their £10 a month contract. They sold it to me as a 'flexible' contract at a lower rate as I said that I was still considering what provider to go to and which handset to go for. At the time, they told me that I could cancel at any time and only pay a £10 cancellation fee. The following week, I found a better deal and range of handsets with Virgin and signed up. Two days after that, I called 3 to cancel my contract and was informed that, because I had used the contract, I was now liable for a £100 termination fee! :( I asked for the recording of my conversation with them when I was sold the contract, so that I can be absolutely sure that I was not informed of their crazy policy at point of sale and was told that I would have to apply in writing to the 'DP Manager'. Fortunately, if I get nowhere with this, Virgin have said that I can end my contract with them within 28 days and only pay for what I've used, so I'm not going to get tied into two contracts as long as I keep an eye on the time ticking by. I'm also going to withold any payments to 3 until the dispute is resolved. I've thought of going to trading standards, but does anyone else have any suggestions?
