I have been with 3 for 5 years or so and have not had many problems. I had decided to leave and go with the o2 sim card deal through Quidco. However when I rang on Friday to get a pac code and they offered me an IPhone with this deal.

    700 Mix and Match minutes
    Unlimited Internet
    24 month contract
    £27.00 per month
    £99.00 for phone

It arrived today and I was still wavering so called 3 and they improved the offer to

    700 Mix and Match minutes
    Unlimited internet
    18 month Contract
    £27.00 per month
    Free phone.

Now I know it does not have free texts but I probably only use about 50 -70 per month. Is this a good deal?

They offerred you an iPhone? 3 don't have iPhones on their website, are you sure it was an iPhone?

Oh dear, I see, like many others, I could complain about 3 all day....
    Handset: Sony Ericsson K800i

    Most commonly used location: London

Ease and reliability and connection: Not any problems

Any other problems: Grief where would I start: Their customer service is really really truly terrible. I had no real complaints about the phone or the coverage, just the attitude of the staff when you called. After 18 months, I had decided on what phone I wanted to upgrade to so called them to discuss upgrades and they girl was so dismissive and rude, telling me if I wanted that phone at my current plan (which made no sense as it was obviously the wrong plan, I was using waaaay more minutes) if would cost me £50, no discount or anything. The next person I spoke to just said "well how about this phone, the motorola xxxx, all the kids are finding it very trendy and liking it very much" like some kind of robot reading a script or something, also I am 29, so not particularly worried about what the kids are finding trendy. I left in the end, they just couldnt offer me anything in the way of an upgrade at all, they seemed incapable to starting a dialogue with me.....maybe its their call centre?? Anyway was a little while ago so I am forgetting how angry I actually was at the time. I switched to T mobile and have had to call them a LOT about my phone not working or overcharging, but I have had refunds, apologies from them every time, and now have just upgraded with them for a further 18 months (at a massive discount), after the staff actually listened to what I was saying and tried his best to find me something I would like.

I was cancelling my mobile internet with 3 and despite my insistence I didn't want to be with them anymore they offered me an iPhone 3 G.

    I didn't even have a phone contract with them just a £15 a month 5GB mifi account

3 do do iphones, but not the 32GB 3GS it seems. I have been with them for several years and always found their customer service great. Also, I've sent back a couple of phones in the past due to problems and had them either repaired or replaced in a couple of days with no cost or issues. Currently have a SE C905 and the headset speaker has just gone today - called to arrange a fix and they told me my contract ends on 11th June, so I asked about iphone.

They offered me a 16GB 3GS for £49 for the phone and £35 a month contract, with:

500 minutes cross network anytime minutes (I only use max 300 currently)
    Unlimimted internet and email
    Free voicemail
    100 MM messages
    Unlimited texts

Now, this seems pretty good to me, but I'm concerned about the fact that it's a 24month contract - although the older I get the less I really care about this.

Anyone have any thoughts on the contract offer above?
  • Handset: 3Skypephone 2
    Use: Surrey
Network problems: dropped calls, terrible phone, weird background noise.
Any other problems: Well. This might take a few hours. Their customer service is so, so, so awful. The woman I just rang accused me of lying twice, and then implied I can't do maths. I've asked them countless times to change the contract to my name as opposed to my dad's, which they have failed to do. The price I was quoted on the phone was £5 more than on the site, with 200 less minutes. They refuse to believe that I started my contract in September, not March; even though I have bills right here that prove me right. They insist that my contract's not up till next september; it's an 18 month contract. It was therefore over in March. I got told three times that they don't understand my accent; I'm from Surrey, and I speak with estuary english. They were rude, patronising and bullying.

  • From personal experience the 3 network is getting bigger.

OH works in this field of work, so knows information about what networks use what and who feeds off each other etc.

Used his knowledge myself to get my 1st ever contract mobile and went with the 3 network.

    Handset: Nokia E71

Most commonly used location: Central London - Moorgate

Ease and reliability and connection: Very poor and no network when indoor

Any other problems: Network busy error during peak hours - and terrible cusomer care

Overall service and rating (out of 10): 1/10

I was with 3 but had to leave once they lost the roaming agreement with O2. the network coverage even in central london was very very unreliable and almost nill when indoors. They let me go after 12 months although I was on an 18 months contract. They know there's a serious issue with their network infrastructure, thats why they let me go without any termination charge or penalty.

Switched to VF and they offered me cheaper tariff and network is superb. uninterrupted coverage, even in remotest areas.

If 3 get hooked to O2 network again they can do better, but these days they are partnering with Orange which is not known for greatest of networks. So if anyone wants to use their phone as voicemail collection device this is where you need to go.

was on PAYG with 3. Good service. Then 3 altered the T&C's and started charging for voicemail which i uise a lot.

This was available Saturday at £12.00 pcm until 31/05/10. Now 3 won't sell it to me as the link goes to a £15.00 a month deal on the website. Talk about offers can be withdrawn at anytime - cant see that stated on the website.

Off to O2 sim only for £10.00 a month with a small Quidco cashback.
