I have been with 3 for 5 years or so and have not had many problems. I had decided to leave and go with the o2 sim card deal through Quidco. However when I rang on Friday to get a pac code and they offered me an IPhone with this deal.
700 Mix and Match minutes
Unlimited Internet
24 month contract
£27.00 per month
£99.00 for phone
It arrived today and I was still wavering so called 3 and they improved the offer to
700 Mix and Match minutes

18 month Contract

Free phone.
Now I know it does not have free texts but I probably only use about 50 -70 per month. Is this a good deal?
Mix and match means you can use either minutes or texts up to the 700 of your contract so if you only use 70 texts in a month you'll still have 630 mins to use.
Looks a good deal to me.0 -

Is this a good deal? well that depends what phone you will be getting. If a top end phone maybe if a budget phone I'd say no. Maybe time for a little more haggling with Three. Do your research know which phone you want and what they offer to the general public. If you are within your 30 day notice period ask for the PAC code if they aren't willing to give you a better deal.0 -
One and a half months with 3 so far, no significant issues with signal around Cambridge. I have seen my phone roam on to the Orange network once or twice while walking around the city, but these pockets seem to be small as I need only move 20-30 yards to get a good 3G signal again.
I haven't had to use their customer service as of yet so I still can't comment on that.
My3 is a nice facility and seems accurate so far. It would be nice if they added the capability to see how much my actual data usage is (even within my allowance) without having to wait for the bill.
Handset: Nokia 5800, then HTC Desire (both SIM free)
Most commonly used location: Cambridge
Ease and reliability and connection: Good
Any other problems: Data connection sometimes stops working even though the phone still indicates a connection is present. Happened twice in the last 3 weeks, however toggling the mobile data on and off solved the problem immediately. No critical issues arose.

I am very unhappy with my three contract. They sold me a phone which had v little memory so I could not store any of my messages, and suggested that I deleted all of the manufacturers software to enable me to use it. It was a sony ericsson. I say WAS because it was stolen . When I told them, they told me to buy a new phone at a cost of £50 despite my already complaining about that phone. I also was not able to use a cheaper nokia phone which I had bought some time ago as it was disabled by Three.
The original contract was sold to me at £18 over the phone, and one of the conditions was I received electronic bills. When I came to examine the bills it was clear that there were so many exclusions, that, again, this was not a relevant contract for me. And I ended up paying around £48 a month.
HELP! What can I do? I would like to transfer my number or get a better deal and phone0 -
I bought a 3 PAYG phone a few days ago and even though the sales person checked the coverage checker and said it would be fine I lose signal in some rooms of the house.
When I took it back they said they cannot give me a refund as their coverage checker says I can get a signal and also it has been used?0 -
I signed up to 3 in 2007, with the SonyEricsson w880i being my choice of phone to accompany the contract. The signal was woeful, and the mobile internet was able to be accessed almost on the toss of a coin - even with full signal.
After a few months I lost that phone (if you found one in Preston on New Year's Eve, 2007, please can I have it back?), and received a SE z10i in its place for only one payment of £50 - a good deal considering I didn't have insurance. I was impressed.
With the SE z10i the signal vastly improved, and access to the internet improved with it. If you can't be bothered to Google-image it, the z10i is a chunky clamshell phone.
Fast-forward a handful of months and it was time for a new phone/tariff. Along came my SE w595. When I received that phone (circa Jan '09) the signal was better still, and the 'HSDPA' noticeably faster than previous connections to the 'net. When a connection is unable to achieve, switching the mobile off then on nearly always fixes it. This rarely needs done.
SO, to summarise, I think the phone itself is important for signal, and I think their network coverage is getting better, albeit it at a slow pace. Their customer service, for me, has always been as expected - good. Their tariffs are as competitive as you could hope for, the 'My 3' thing is helpful, and the breakdown of your monthly bills are far easier to crunch than those sent out by Orange, O2, and T-mobile, in my experience.
My only criticism of 3 is that the appears to be no option to include a bundle of multimedia messages into any given tariff. I will admit however that I haven't even half scrutinised all of their tariffs.
I'm due an upgrade in July, so I'll be going in for the SE X10 knowing that I'll tell them I'm off if they can't match a certain T-mobile tariff for the same phone. If they show me da money, I'm happy to give '3' 9.5/10.0 -

Handset: Nokia 2730 Classic
Most commonly used location: Manchester
Ease and reliability and connection: I've been with 3 for around 3 years know. Connection used to be a problem (calls would constantly drop) but in the last 12mths things have improved. Calls have dropped only a handful of occassions. I have contacted 3 customer service on a number of occasions and as with other providers (I think Orange) you end up speaking to someone on the other side of the world. They do their best but are limited to what they can help with. My partner upgraded her 3 contract online and received an excellent deal. The following month the bill arrived and for some unknown reason was still charging the price for the previous contract (this was more expensive). We contacted 3 customer services to complain. They were very unhelpful. I wasn't happy with this so we contacted them a second time explaining the issue. Once again they couldn't help (I feel they didn't understand the issue fully). Getting even more frustrated we asked if there was anyone else we could speak too to complain. They could only give us an email address to send our complaint. We sent the email straight away. 10 mins after sending the email we received a call from a manager from 3 (I was very surprised). We explained once again our billing problem and stated that we had took screen shots of the upgraded deal so we had proof which we could easily be sent over to them. We left it with them and 5 mins later he phoned back. He had looked into the complaint and found the offer that we were talking about on their system. He apologised and honoured our price plan and refunded our account.
Any other problems:
