Beks,
On the insurance solicitor front, dont let them put you off, they will be a solicitor that works for the insurance company and will have the insurnace companies interests at heart (money!) not yours i'm afraid.
On the voting for the worst company thing, i'm sure we'd all vote for them for you, i know I would. PM' the regs with who it is, that way your not making it public, just sharing with soem internet freinds0 -
Beks, does a hot animal ring a bell?
If I'm on the right path, the reviews are AWFUL.
Can you not add them to your case to back you up??
(That's if I'm right!) xxx
Oh god yeah - it took me 2 minutes to find the one your suggesting Shellsuit and you're right the reviews are awful... I really hope you get it sorted Beks.. dont give up!
(I noticed one of the reviews at trip advisor says 'they doubled booked our day with another couple..so glad as we could then get out of the contract and get our deposit back'. UGH!)0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Yes, you were all right, a hot animal rings a lot of bells!!
Unfortunately for us, we didnt read the reviews first. I have read and re-read them 100 times looking for a tiny glimmer of hope that it isnt all bad!!
I must come across as a really dumb person as we have made so many mistakes in booking this venue, I don't think I am but I guess I dont get married every day. Think I fell for the sales pitch and let my heart rule my head. A warning for anyone else, do your research thoroughly and get wedding insurance!!!
Have deleted my original thread of where it is now, maybe a little obvious(thanks violetta!!), obviously anyone who is in Kent, please ask and I will let you know !! I am however getting to the stage where I just want to stand from the roof tops and shout it for everyone to hear, probably why a part of me couldnt care less now about slander!
I will have a look at bitter wallet (thanks Steph) and see whether I can put anything on there! Will let you know as any votes would help (make me feel better anyway!!)
In the meantime, getting the court statement right and will be going ahead to small claims court. Wont be until after christmas now that anything will get to court but keeping all my fingers and toes crossed!
Thanks everyone.0 -
Aww Beks you don't come across as dumb at all so don't think that way!!
It looks gorgeous and they have a cool flashy website so it's not the type of place you would think would have crap service.
I really hope you get your money back, and you know we're all rooting for you both xxxxxxxxTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Ah ha- there now after the hot animal comment!
Beks- don't beat yourself up about it. We didn't read any reviews about our venue before we booked it, it never even crossed my mind. As it was we were fine and I can recommend it if you are looking for another east kent venue.
As shellsuit says the website for the place you booked looks good and I've heard its quite posh. I would never have suspected it might be bad until I read your thread.
Fingers crossed you get your cash back.

Beks we all make mistakes love and you wanted the wedding of your dreams and thought this numpty could get it for you it's easy done love, I spent £27k on a car I hadn't test drove ordered it waited 5 months for it I kept it for 16 months when there was loads of things wrong with it the roof was leaking (hard top convertible) and also the injectors were stuffed on it so you can imagine how I felt in the end I sold it back to them for £17,500
I miss him so much still but now I have a Jeep
See so things are easy done. WE won't give up on this I'm up North (Manchester) And I will come down to Kent and sit outside the place until you get your money back!!!
I'm having a pretty bad week myself too was due to go to New York a week on saturday but my OH's visa hasn't come so we can't go I've had to postpone it until next year!! November I think it will end up being as I wanted to see the christmas lights. So gutted isn't the word, Instead he wants a couple of days somewhere here in the UK compared to NY is like pulling my finger nails out one by one.
So bring me some good news because I'm going to have a nervous breakdown soon.
Steph xx0 -
Beks, you weren't dumb, just trusting, our venue was fairly new to doing weddings when we booked it, but lucky for us I found it through someone on here so had a personal reccomendation, but didn't for any of the other venues we looked at - I didn't even think about looking for reviews, even though I do whenever I book a hotel!!
Good Luck with the small claims court and I'm sure we'll all keep our fingers crossed for you too x"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -
Beks, you were not dumb, HE is an a r s e hole! He can't keep doing this and not think that eventually the word will spread and he will lose serious amount of trade. The trouble is he knows (at the moment) that people, like you, will arrive see a fab setting and he turns on the charm long enough to get your money! Of course by offering a 'special price' he gets the money in and then can ignore you. By taking him to small claims you will show him you will not be 'bullied' into having your wedding there and his behaviour is not 'OK' x:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Thanks everyone - you are all fab!!!
Your comments have reassured me!!! I am glad I am not the only one not to check out the reviews. I think I did it right at the wrong time when everything started to crumble beneath me and that made me feel worse. I guess we are just unlucky with this one but in the future I would ALWAYS check reviews regardless!! Katsmeow - recvommendations welcome for when (if) we start again!! Steph - owch!!!! Can't let you have a nervous breakdown, I can't have that on my conscience as well lol so will get moving with the claim!!
Definitely going to small claims, if only to be a warning to anyone else and in the hope that others don't get into this situation. I have the weekend off (doing tons of overtime) so will get the claim done and hope to submit it on Monday.
If the worst came to the worst and we lose, I am hoping to find a way to try and at least use the money we have spent without actually letting him make a penny more. Not sure how yet though - wil face that when the time comes!! Anyone fancy coming for some free grub and wine on the table (you're not allowed to order anything else from the bar though lol!!), would have to sneak other alcohol in under your dresses!! Have got one room too so it would have to be a bunk up lol!!!
Back to positive thinking now but with a lot more trepidation:o!!!
Thanks everyone for all your support, I have no idea what I would have done without your advice! :T:D0
