I'm glad to see you finally got your money back from The Blazing Donkey, Ham, Sandwich, Dover, Kent.

(Thanks to the kind person who PMd me the name a couple of weeks ago, I'm too dense to have worked it out for myself..)

    That's The Blazing Donkey y'all. :D

Yay Beks, I didn't realise you had named and shamed The Blazing Donkey at Ham, Sandwich yet, I was expecting a new thread where you swould tell the world about The Blazing Donkey, and will now toddle over to Trip Advisor to read about The Blazing Donkey!

I am so so glad you've got this all sorted and the money is now back where it belongs... The Blazing Donkey really sounds like a horrendous place!, I have been reading reviews on The Blazing Donkey, Kent since I cunningley worked out what the place was called a few months ago, and not a single review of The Blazing Donkey, Kent is possitive! How can The Blazing Donkey, Kent still be getting customers through its door!? I know a lot of people don't read reviews of the places they decide to get married in (I didn't..i have to admit, but luckily after reading through this thread early on I did check review of our venue, and was relived that everything was good!).

It is so important that people do check reviews...or you could end up with somewhere as utterly horrible as The Blazing Donkey in Kent.. From the website and pitures it looks like a lovely place, I just can't believe the staff and manager of The Blazing Donkey get away with treating paying customers so badly!

Anyway, well done Bex, you have been so brave and string throughout this whole mess, I doubt many of us would have kept ourselves together. But in the end all your hard work paid off and you can now hopefully move on and book an utterly fabulous wedding at somewhere other than The Blazing Donkey in kent.

    xxx
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!

OMG, local papers, Beks? You should go straight to the nationals: I can imagine The Sun at least would have a field day over this 'Brave Soldier Denied Dream Day by Hotel Owner From Hell' etc. They would take the angle of your brave OH being one of 'Our Lads' and denied. Seriously. They would probably also put out a call to hotels in the area to help. And they would, cos it would get them a big, lovely national write up.

Seriously consider it. I reckon they would go to town on the owner and the establishment. ;)

Oh god, The Sun would wet themselves over this story, perfect for a massive name and shame!!

Beks, if you want to talk to them, here is the email address. They have to have your permission to run the story so you have nothing to lose to discuss it with them, The Blazing Donkey won't know what has hit them!!

after reading the reviews on tripadvisor and on here, i'd say go to the papers and also see if any production companies are doing one of those "worst hotels" programme they like to put on every now and then

The Sun, Backing Our Boys. Carp newspaper IMO, but what a good idea. This Morning, too, you'd get a good story from them, I'm sure!

Beks, please tell your OH that I think it was a massive achievment to be selected for the Polar expedition squad, even if he didn't make it to the final group. I know he probably feels it's a bit like going to the World Cup but not getting a game, but these things happen for a reason, and his turn will come.
