Bek's to edit the title , go to the 1st post, click edit, that will bring up a box to edit the body of the message at the bottom of this box there are 3 buttons, save, go advanced or cancel. Click the go advanced 1 then on the next screen you will get the Title box, which you can then edit.
Sorry about your OH's trip such a shame but as others say , things happen for a reason. Is he always going to be stuck with the NHS leg, how do people get better ones I can imagine the costs involved would be astronomical.
    Booo!!!
  • I have been a lurker for quite a while, and I had worked out that the venue was the BLAZING DONKEY IN HAM, SANDWICH. I'm so glad that things have worked out (in terms of finance).

Have you noticed that when you google BLAZING DONKEY, HAM although the hotel's own website is the first hit, it also shows you that it has 2 stars out of five. If you click on the more information link under the map, it shows the trip advisor reviews.

If I lived in east kent, I certainly wouldn't even consider the blazing donkey in ham, sandwich

I too had worked out that this horrible wedding venue is the Blazing Donkey in Ham, Sandwich, Kent, and I'm so glad to see that we can now finally warn other brides-to-be that this is not a fantastic wedding venue in Kent ;)

I googled "Blazing Donkey wedding" and didn't find this thread (but I suspect it will be there before too long!) - but I did find this - don't know if you've seen this already Beks? http://www.solicitorsjournal.com/story.asp?storyCode=12657&eclipse_action=getsession

It's a story of how another wedding feast at the Blazing Donkey in Kent turned into a nightmare :( The great news though is that the couple were awarded £6,000 in costs for the Blazing Donkey's unreasonable behaviour! Not relevant to Beks at this point, I think, but it may help some other unfortunate bride and groom who come accross this thread when searching the internet for The Blazing Donkey Wedding Venue...

Beks, I'm so sorry and disappointed for Mr Beks, but he absolutely and categorically hasn't failed! And by the little I know of him through your posts, I feel sure that he'll work his way to another equally worthwhile project.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering: if you're looking for a great venue for your wedding reception in Kent, don't try the Blazing Donkey. Same thing goes if you're looking for a great family hotel, weekend break or other holiday in Kent: I really couldn't recommend the Blazing Donkey ;)

Bubbles, yes you are correct. The trip advisor comment will be on within 48 hours. I only did it yesterday and it takes about 2 days to be approved. :D

There is no facebook page and I am not sure if I will set one up. I do want to publicise but a free for all page for people to comment on, as said above, might not be the way to go. Some of my friends would have some very choice words and I dont know if I want to be held responsible!!!

I would ask people on here to delete all personal attacks on the man in question. I totally agree with the comments but now the name is publicised, as Inapickle (who puts it so succinctly) says, I would not want anyone who has helped me or me for that matter to get into trouble for personal attacks (however true they might be).

And Minxy_Bella - yes, I too am a bit of a karma believer for both our issues. There has been a reason for all of this (although I am yet to find out!!). OH is still upset but I know in time, he will come to terms with it and things will settle down again. My knowledge of the small claims court has certainly improved as a result of the wedding problems. I just hope its not a sign that OH and I should not be getting married!! :D

    Absolutely not! :D

Nope, my gut feeling is that you two are most definitely meant to be together - no question about it!

He'll come around - I would imagine his pride has taken a bit of a dent and that's perfectly understandable. Anyone would feel the same. But he's fab, North Pole or no North Pole. Who wants to go there anyway? Bliddy cold, it is! :D

    THE BLAZING DONKEY!!!!

    Pardon???:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I was lucky enough to be reading the thread before the hints about the place were edited so have been following the tripadvisor reviews for a while out of interest.

I look forward to seeing your review when it goes in, beks!!!!:T

To add some more keywords for google to pick up.

    The blazing donkey hotel
    Hay Hill
Ham, Deal, Kent CT14 0ED, United Kingdom
    01304 617 362

I would not recommend the blazing donkey as a wedding venue at all for all the reasons described in this thread.
The owner has been sued, taken to court, ruined weddings, awful service doesn't keep promises. He makes it difficult to get money back once the wedding is cancelled.
The Blazing donkey reviews on tripadvisor are terrible. Beks is not the first and won't be the last.

Do not book your wedding / ceremony at the blazing donkey until you read tripadvisor.

And if you think we are going for overkill, take a little look at Trip Advisor here!

Hmmmm - I did all this but it changes the title in the first post but not the thread title!! How frustrating!!! :D

And as for all the other posts ..... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I never thought I would be able to laugh at our 9 months of hell which have been caused by the Blazing Donkey in Ham, Sandwich, Kent. The wedding venue owner, Mr Richard Martin, has caused us a great deal of stress and going through the courts has not exactly been a pleasant experience (made particularly difficult because of his inability to complete paperwork and not bothering to answer court papers which meant us having to get the bailiffs in).

Our wedding should be in less than 8 weeks time, instead we are left with nothing. But thank god, otherwise, I would have had to get married in that truely horrific place which sends cold shivers down my spine. It might look pretty but dont be fooled!

Sadly, I know we are not the first to take The Blazing Donkey to court and definitely wont be the last. I have spoken to two others who have sued The Blazing Donkey in the past (and won), I have read about at least one other, our bailiffs went in on our behalf and at least two others and I know of another impending. These are just the ones I know of, there will be plenty more and plenty who could not be doing with the 9 months of hassle that we have had to endure. There are many unhappy cutomers all too evident on trip advisor. Hardly a way to run a wedding business.

But would I do it all again rather than get married at The Blazing Donkey??? Too right I would, wild horses wouldnt make me get married there .... I would rather get married at The North Pole!!!! Our wedding might have been ruined by the Blazing Donkey but our fight for life and justice will continue! ;)

Beks, you are in a perfect position to arrange a 'last minute' wedding and get some really good deals, and if you do can I come to the evening do to give you a bl00dy big hug for being so amazingly calm and determined? xx
