  • Just checked out the venue and I can't believe how terrible it is from the official website. Not sure what I was expecting though, 'welcome to the blazing donkey, we're awful...'

And if you think we are going for overkill, take a little look at Trip Advisor here!

I always turn to Trip Advisor first, but there are other review sites, like Holiday Watchdog or this one: http://www.eurobookings.com/review/sandwich-hotels-gb/blazing-donkey-country-hotel.html?label=gg_en_bh_36208-united-kingdom-sandwich-blazing-donkey-country-hotel&filter_offset=1&destination_id=36208&destination_type=8&destination_search=Blazing+Donkey+Country+Hotel&form_type=remember.

After googling the name, it seems the same bloke owns The Dog at Wingham and Harveys in Ramsgate.

Apparently both of these have bad reviews on trip adviser.

Indeed he does, plus another called the Ivyhouse in Tonbridge which is his newest purchase. They are all held under the collective name of Kent Inns of Distinction. As a matter of principle, I will obviously not be going to any of these and will avoid at all costs.

    Were you bored Abbafan1972???!! :rotfl:

Frannyann - you would be soooo welcome at our evening do, its because of you we will actually still be able to afford to get married!! :D

My review is not on trip advisor yet. :( I am presuming it will be on there on Tuesday now. If prospective brides dont take notice of all the other reviews on there already then one more wont make any difference.
I am now back to trying to convince OH to agree to the local papers. :)

There aren't any reviews of the Ivyhouse just yet..well there werent any when I looked the other day.

Loads of business peeps that I know are avoiding the place like the plague. One wonders how he manages to stay in business with his bad attitude and poor customer service.

Over on twitter I follow someone called Fatwind and they have a page where you can post about horrid hotels, rancid cafes etc...I admit that I haven't posted yet but I am thinking about it.

OMG, local papers, Beks? You should go straight to the nationals: I can imagine The Sun at least would have a field day over this 'Brave Soldier Denied Dream Day by Hotel Owner From Hell' etc. They would take the angle of your brave OH being one of 'Our Lads' and denied. Seriously. They would probably also put out a call to hotels in the area to help. And they would, cos it would get them a big, lovely national write up.

Seriously consider it. I reckon they would go to town on the owner and the establishment. ;)
