So - sounds like pasta salad it will have to be.
I like a version with 3 beans and very finely chopped onion in a french dressing. Use any tinned kidney beans, flageolet, butter beans etc etc. [have to admit I have sometimes drained and washed baked beans - and they do surprisingly nicely]
Salt and pepper. You can add some very finely chopped red pepper, and or fresh chopped parsley, or chives or mint or anything like that to give a bit of green pizzazz. It wont look cheap.

Ooh ok - beans, pasta, fence dressing and onion. I do have some chopped toms - pretty much if it comes in a can and is a bean or tomatoe then we have it in. If you weren't to make a pasta dish - what would you make? What could I top eggs with? They take 5 minutes to cook right? If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

Mix pasta with salad cream / mayo, canned sweetcorn and a finely chopped onion and add a chive dressing?0

you could do 'devilled eggs' - a bit 70's retro- but hard boil the eggs [10mins] - peel, cut lengthwise in hald, scoop out yolks, mix yolks with tspoon of finely chopped onion and tsp poon mayo, tsp mustard, scoop back into the yolk holes, then sprinkle with some chilli powder.
tastes good but much more time consuming than throwing together a pasta salad. when are you supposed to be there?0 -

Ive got lots of pasta, Im thinking I should eat more for lunch at work (saves me £2 for a sandwich every day)
I have cans of like 3 bean salad, mixed bean salads, butter beans, chickpeas etc, so Im thinking i can combine the pasta and the beans for a nice lunch. Just not sure how really:o
Should I cook the beans first? And then cool them, same as I would do the pasta?
What else should I add, or can I add to make it more flavoursome? Just some seasoning and mayo?
Or any links to easy lunch ideas that I can prepare the night before would be great, thanksCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
try to think of it logically,
you want carbs: your pasta
protein: meat, including fish or beans and pulses
veg, so salad or fresh peas or similar
then i like a sauce, salad dressing, mayo, etc
the beans, i just drain when they are tinned and add to things. no problems.
example of salads using my theory.
pasta, chicken, sweet corn, diced peppers and mayo
pasta salmon, watercress and a dill dressing
pasta, beans, spring onion, radish, a tomato based dressing.
i hope this has helped and i've not been to patronising.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0
