Because it is mud slinging and kicking a dog when it is down and totally irrelevant to the issue in hand. Given the demise of other cashback companies who have gone out of business and left lots of people in debt. When a company fails to file its annual accounts for a period, it often indicates that they are shaky. Referring to late filing would tend to give some MSE members the impression that they were in some sort of financial trouble. This is without foundation - at least I believe that to be the case.
Hi GD,
I can see both sides of this to be honest and also where it may or may not be relevant!
A couple of years ago after both my companies were hit by a few bad payers and a couple going to the wall, I made the decision to only accept new accounts where they had a clean bill of health from CH.
If we come across late payers on existing clients we monitor them and if anything flags up such as late filing we put restictions in place untill it gets sorted.
I'm afraid that sometimes it's hard on the companies concerned but in this day and age it pays dividends not to expose yourself to too much risk.
As to wheter it's relevant in this situation would depend on whether you were giving mobiles.co.uk money in the hope that they will return you cashback at a later date. If they were to go to the wall without paying it you back then you would be out of pocket in which case very relevant ;)

Is it relevant to me ???
Probably not, unless I decide to go down the road of court action to try and recover my losses

The annual return was mentioned earlier by someone else - its nothing short of scare mongering.
Hi OneADay,
I think whilst it may be veiwed like that sometimes it can also be a warning and without knowing what the reasons are it must not be discounted.
From my experiances dealing with this lot it comes as no surprise!

While I'm glad of Bens input on these threads I do find his manner oververtly aggressive at times, not really what I'd expect from a company representative. It worries me that mobiles do not seem to answer their calls or reply to emails in a timely fashion.

I have good few weeks before I need to order 2 new phones, I'll be watching these threads and mobiles further posts with a close eye

PS - I've always found MJs and Quetins posts hugely informative
Hi Tyler,
To be honest I too have been glad to have had Ben's input on here too!
But only because it has made me even more convinced that the company should be avoided at all costs.
His involvement on here only served to delay matters whilst I waited on his false promises of it being dealt with.

Hi Silk.

Bad payers are the killer of small businesses, I agree. As are any companies that take your cash in advance, such as tour operators, mobile phone suppliers and ticket agencies.

But, as this company is a part of CPW, then CPW would need to go down the drain for customers to lose money and no one is suggesting that at this point in time - I think!

A nice simple, unambiguous question:

Does anyone have any experience of a simple, straight forward cashback deal working on Mobiles.co.uk?

Please don't repeat all the rest of the cr*p that has been said before - I just want to know if anyone has had a cahsback deal with Mobiles, submitted the correct bills on time and received their cashback (regardless of how long it took)?

I have. But then I did with other companies which I either sued or came within a whisker of so doing. I have consistently stated that there is very little chance of cpw going bust (and this IS cpw) and therefore getting your money is fairly safe provided you are prepared to sue as required. The problem is that other cpw companies were great until they decided to randomly play cheat the customer. Although I have been paid it has never been according to the t&c - and both I and one of the people I look after have been put in a position where suing this dealer (CPW t/a Mobiles.co.uk) was very close to being necessary. I am therefore extremely wary of the things they are now saying and will watch the contracts I deal with even more closely.

Initially (when I first started using this dealer) I regarded them as somewhat safer than other cpw clones (who had become notorius well before then). Now I actually genuinely believe that E2Save may now actually be a safer bet than Mobiles.co.uk. They certainly pay faster, and last time I checked the two sets of t&c E2Save's actually now appear be to clearer (making it easier to sue). Lately I also get they may have improved in other ways - though I would never trust them again. In a straight choice though there isn't that much to choose between them. There is, however, a VAST difference between cpw dealers and Mobiles2yourdoor (Phones4u) where cashback deals are concerned.
• Mobile Junkie. PLEASE do not regard this message as an insult against you as I know you are a very helpful person especially with the whole Phoneboxdirect saga which you made very useful posts for myself and others.

But I have so far three contracts with mobiles.co.uk and two with M2YD and I feel both are very good companies who have paid up with no major problems. My only hitch was when my cashback was suppose to arrive within 10days from mobiles.co.uk, after 3 weeks it hasn't arrived. I emailed mobiles.co.uk on cashback@mobilees.co.uk asking where is it. They replied within hours stating they had an issue with the printers and it should be sent within 10days, I received the cheque couple days later. The really nice thing about mobiles.co.uk is I email a PDF copy of my bill and within the day they confirm by text and email that this is the correct bill and it will be processed. I did this just yesterday and I'm sure my cheque is going to arrive within a couple of weeks. I have not had a single problem. I understand Silk had an issue with returning a phones but on the cashback side I don't think there is a single thing to worry about. To answer the OP question

1. Do they honour the cashbacks?
Yes they do. Not a single issue/rejection and they text/email you updates of the status of the claim
2. When do they send the claim forms?
They don't. Just email your bill with your order reference.
3. How long do I have to claim after the relevant bill arrives?
I think it's 30 days.
4. If I use special delivery am I guaranteed to receive cashback?
If you email it then yes.
5. When do they send the new cheque and claim forms?
Cheque arrives within 2-3weeks at most.
6. What address do I send them to?
cashback@mobiles.co.uk

I have three contracts. One paid up in full and two mid way through and there is no problems. Just email in your bill from your registered email addy with your order ref

M2YD are just as good but you must send in your bill via recorded post.

• 7/9/09 12:29:33 - Sent the bill via email
7/9/09 13:29 - Email received stating bill has been printed off and being processed
7/9/09 14:28 - Text received stating bill is now with cashback team

I shall update this post until I receive the cheque
