No, the kids will simply then deduce that it is OK to ignore the rules and do their own thing - IMO, the root of a lot of problems we have with indiscipline today is that parents lead with a wholly bad example.
The OP disagrees with the rules - why did he not raise the issue as soon as the decision was notified to the parents? Why think that the rules did not apply to him?
I am pretty sure that a church linked school would have the capacity to assist with costs had the matter been raised initially rather than simply choosing to ignore a rule that he didn't agree with.
(BTW Cheapscate - should your name not be CheapsKate or is it a pun or something?):hello:0 -
Whether it was discussed at the PTA or not I cannot say as I have never attended one.
There are usually minutes that are made available to parents.
Also, it's amazing how you did not have any interest in attending a PTA meeting or getting involved until now when you have an issue with which you disagree. There was apparently a letter sent out at the end of the summer term, but I have no recolection of it, and neither do many of the parents in this situation.
However, the majority of parents were able to comply - so "apparently" there must have been a mass communication of the intended changes.:hello:0 -
I understand about everyone looking the same, and not being teased etc, but my kids really don't care, and if anyone started on my youngest.....lets just say she can easily handle herself.MoradoJess wrote: »I find that quite offensive, has the OP said that his youngest will beat up anyone who teases her? No, he has said that his youngest will be able to deal with it. The best way to stop people teasing is to simply ignore them. I read the OPs comment as the teasing not bothering his daughter not her starting fights.
Hmmm that doesn't sound like the OP is saying the youngest would just walk away. IME if someone says they can handle themselves then they are usually refering to being good in a fight.0 -
My god, what a fuss.
i buy all my DD uniform and i dont work.
in total her full uniform came to £200. i bought the logo`d stuff from school, shoes from clarks (i found i was buying around 4 pairs of shoes per year if they wernt clarks), coat and pants from next and george.
parents know their children need this so why dont they save or buy bits and bats each week like i did.
or simply, dont send your child to that school.
i dont mind paying for her uniform, it creates a sense of belonging and looks so smart. i wouldnt want her to go to any other school either, its the best primary school in our city, high on disipline, respect and DD is 5 and doing reading and arithmatic for 9 yr olds. (she couldnt read last year).
parents know the rules, who do you expect your children to follow them if you dont.0 -

So by that comment, it's us the tax payer who buys your DD uniform then?
How very hypocritical0 -

no you dont, i dont claim benefits.
not thats its anything to do with you, but i was made redundant. and im managing so far on the bit of savings and redundancy money i recieved without claiming. i could claim, but choose not to until i need to.
is it ok with you for me to live like that.?
the point i was making was that i budgeted for her uniform by buying bits and pieces eack week so it wasnt one lump sum i had to pay out.0 -

Budgeting isn't the issue if you had read the OP, they object to being held to ransom by the 1 shop that they can get their logo'd uniforms from. I have to say I could afford those prices but would still object to paying them as they are overinflated.
If it's nothing to do with anyone how you support yourself then why put in the comment that you don't work in the first place?
So money isn't an issue for you, big deal. That kinda makes your point a bit moot0 -

money is a big deal for me, its running out and my aim is to survive without claiming until i find more work.
parents knw the schools policies on uniform, if they dont like it then why agree to send their children there.
the uniform needs to be bought and has to be bought, what ever the price.
no-one is being held to ransom,,, if parents choose to send their kids to that school then they must obey uniform rules.
choose= to make a choice from various options.0 -

You know you have to see it from the shops viewpoint. Its not like Asda where any kids from any school can wear their uniform. They have to keep stock of a specialised uniform which has a limited sales base and most likely most of it is sold in a one month period. Thats going to cost a lot of money to ensure you have the supply ready at the time needed and its not like they can be allowed to run out either. So what if they are making money out of it? Thats what business do. Sell as much as they can for the best price possible.0 -

Once again, have you read all of this thread? This policy only just came in!! and not everyone has the choice of where to send their kids to school.
The OP also has bought their kids uniforms just not the ones that are way over priced.
Please read the whole thread before posting your inane points of view.
