my post was in respect of some people find asking for help humiliating - the school 'made' the situation. By crossing out the word 'school' and inserting the word 'parents' made no sense - are you saying if the parents payed the expensive costs in the first place they would not have to ask for help? strange logic.....

No - I was suggesting that if parents abided by the school guidelines then there would be no problems. Which is true.

How about you both take a half day/day off now and again and attend?

why should the OP use holiday for pta, the school should provide minutes of items discussed, my opinion though,

OK one of the many reasons I'm backing the OP on this one is because I have first hand experience of what happens to the uniform of Primary children.

It gets torn when they fall over in the playground, it gets stretched when children grab each others jumpers and cardigans and pull them, it gets dragged in the mud, frequently lost or stolen, cut with scissors, covered in paint.

It isn't simply a case of buying 2 x jumpers etc now it is the cost of replacing them and other kit over the year!

As regards attending the PTA meetings - that would be a waste of time. They are mostly concerned with fundraising, planning discos, autumn/Xmas/summer fairs etc. They are often a small group of people who support the school wholeheartedly and unreservedly and would be unlikely to join in any revolt against school policies.

Or the parents inability to follow them.

I am amazed at the destruction of school uniforms.

During all my sons time at primary school he ripped one shirt, no other damage.
  • or do what some children do every year at my sons school and nick some one elses and ripe out the name tags !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes a child aged 9 was caught doing this because her mummy had told her too

it is not a case of a difference of opinion - this situation is wrong. I strongly suggest you read this.

Even the Schools Minister says Schools should be taken to court for forcing parents to pay high prices for uniforms supplied by exclusive outfitters

The only reason for a coat to be trashed after 3 days is if the child doesn't look after it!

This isn't correct. My daughter was bullied at primary school, she frequently had coats, pe kit etc taken from cloakroom and trashed. This was not her fault, one teacher blamed my daughter and refused to deal with the problem. After months of problems she was forced to apologise to my daughter. Perhaps you should consider how a bullied child feels when they are then blamed for the prolem by adults.
