you dont have kids do you you shell out hundreds of pounds for the uniform because it has the school label on two weeks later is ripped because the school made them do pe or something in it where as you cna buy exact same uniform from asda for 3/4 of the prize

my advice to the op see if you can get some school logos ( your local school shop should sell these ) and iron/sew them on theywont beable to tell the difference

Having kids or not is irrelevant to any poster's opinion. I don't have kids, but happen to think it's unfair that you are supposed to buy the uniform from a specific shop. Even when I was still at school I thought that kind of thing was unfair!

On the other hand, having kids is a choice and people should put up with the consequences. I pay enough taxes to support the education of other people's children and their benefits/tax credits/handouts. There should be a tax on having children. Unmarried people without children get the worst deal, yet they are paying through their nose for it on the assumption that they will one day be married with children, which is most definitely not always the case.

To the OP - fight for it! Don't let them beat you.

yeah, coz your kids don't eat or need other clothes or shoes the rest of the year?! how far do you think £17 odd quid a month goes?

and if you read the OP correctly you'll see they did buy uniforms just not the over priced logo'd ones

With regards to knowing the rules re school uniforms, this rule has only come in this year and has caught a few of us out. This problem is going to be discussed at the next PTA. There are about 20 of us (families) in the same siutuation, and all of us agree we are not going to back down.

    :T Good for you :T

Please keep us updated, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wouldn't mind a smug smile or two when the school change their policy/make things fairer!

and your point is? the op is looking after his kids!!
what just because he doesn't want to be ripped off by paying a premium at a designated shop he's not looking after his kids?

that coment is totaly and uterly ridiculous

The OP has clearly stated that he is happy to buy what is needed. He objects to the school channelling parents to one supplier for what he considers to be over-priced goods. That is the issue, which has become lost in this thread.

So I suppose it is possible it was discussed and agreed by the PTA, who then informed parents prior to the start of term.
And now there is something of a backlash.

It's not for the PTA to decide on school policy.
