  • Gordikin - if we do not accept the OPs posts as an honest complaint then what on earth are we all doing on here discussing the issue ? I am willing to accept what he is saying and then to discuss it - I wonder why you are bothering to post if you think it is all a lie?

yeah, hope it goes well OP, your putting your kids to school in an alternative but suitable uniform, not like your sending them in jeans and trainers is it. Stand firm

There is a reason why I have not given the name of the school, especially as many of the parents, teachers and at least 1 of the govenors regularly use this site.

Do you not understand a viewpoint which differs from your own?

Can't see the cause for confusion

I would have no problem buying a logo'd school Uniform, IF it was reasonably priced....this schools clearly is not...that is my whole argument.

My kids look as smart in their uniform as any other kid in their Logo'd uniform. It does not affect their school work, cannot see what impact it has on the community, I can just see that the school has found a way to increase its revenue stream.

With regards to knowing the rules re school uniforms, this rule has only come in this year and has caught a few of us out. This problem is going to be discussed at the next PTA. There are about 20 of us (families) in the same siutuation, and all of us agree we are not going to back down.

    *****

I would also like to point out to all those who say, 'if you don't like it take your kids to another school', trust me I would if I could. This was not our choice of school, I would rather my kids went to the school 200m over the road, not the one at the top of the hill 1/2 a mile away. People seem to think I have a choice as to where my kids go, I don't.The LEA allocate the school places and they allocated us to this school, there are no places left at the other schools in the area.

Was this new rule discussed before hand at a previous PTA or similar or is it just an edict?

It's a forum for discussion! OP has their point of view...asks a question and you get various and diverse points of view...if everyone agreed with everyone what would be the point of posting? Mine is I have worked in a school and I try to answer from that perspective in a fair and balanced way.

OP's post is in no way evidence...can YOU name the school in question...no...I thought not!

You could say that about any of the other scenarios presented on this forum. I can't see why the OP would go to the bother of creating a thread in which he makes out that he is being forced to get the uniform from a specific supplier if he isn't.

All that can be said is that if the school in question is forcing parents to buy uniforms from one supplier, then they are participating in a monopoly, which is potentially unlawful. The OFT was making noises about this very issue a few years ago.

could you not ask the school if they could get the badge made so you could iron it onto the clothing,

Whether it is true or not I don't know, but somebody told me that the school shop has to be able to provide you with a sew on badge as an alternative to a pre-logoed blazer/jumper etc. Go to the shop where you are supposed to be able to get the uniform from and ask them - you may have to be persistent apparently!!!!!! I can't see the problem with no logos, but no uniform at all is an issue - as long as the children wear the school colours, then I think that should be fine.

I asked this morning but they said they don't supply them as they expect every child to wear the uniform as provided by Monkhouse.

This is something we will bring up at the PTA.

Whether it was discussed at the PTA or not I cannot say as I have never attended one. There was apparently a letter sent out at the end of the summer term, but I have no recolection of it, and neither do many of the parents in this situation.
