When I got married we got £1000 from my parents and put it straight behind the bar and it lasted most of the night, (was over 13 years ago now though). If I invite people to my wedding then why should they pay stupid hotel prices because I want a stupidly expensive hotel? Your celebration, you pay. Simple. If you can't afford it don't do it.

If People are not willing to buy a couple of drinks at a wedding after the meal and about 4 drinks are paid for then they obviously don't need to be at the wedding. Its about the couple's day and them wanting to share it with people that matter plain and simple.
I find it totally ridiculous that anyone nowadays expects free drinks all night at a wedding, we're in the middle of a recession too, times are hard.

An open bar is expected where I'm from, Philadelphia, and all alcohol is included with our wedding package.

I have never been to a wedding in which I had to buy drinks.

I've only been to one wedding where there was a 'free' bar and was quite shocked at people ordering doubles and more than one drink at a time each.
Far from being a nice thing it seemed to bring out the worst in some. Human nature I suppose.

People are going to drink and get drunk no matter if there is an open bar or not. People get drunk at pubs every weekend paying a lot of money a drink. I personally think a good hosts provides all food and drinks.
I pay a set amount per person and I pay less for anyone under 21, maybe $20pp less. I personally think it's a bargain!

After several months on theknot.com I have learned that open/ cash bars are regional within the US let alone other countries. My guests would talk about me/ be shocked if they had to buy drinks at my wedding. It seems different cultures, areas, and groups of people have different expectations of what a wedding should be. Nothing wrong with that just different ideas/ norms.

Its often easier to skim boards, by looking at the avvy rather than the picture, for someone you want advice or info on. So its just polite here, not to have same or very similar avvys!!

Lol its okay hun if you go in your control panel you can click on something that makes them visible . You haven't upset anyone it just get a bit confuzzling. Now when we see JL we'll know its you!
