Is anyone putting money behind the bar??

We paid for nonalcoholic drinks and kept a bar tab. We didn't want to subsidise our family/friends getting pished, but nor did we want the people driving to end up paying £3 for Coke. Would that be a compromise?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hey xjayjayx I'm getting married at a church and then reception at the orsett hall.
And the tears were mine!! I was so frustrated at what was being said but couldn't say anything that I wanted to say without having a go or insulting her!! ( and i knew that the next day when it all calmed down, everyone would prob only remember it was me shouting etc! ) Therefore, I just kept quiet and walked out and rang my mum!!
The crunch line was this.....my OH's brother is getting married the month before us in Thailand.....MIL sat there and said 'your brother is doing everything right, at least he's not charging people to go to his wedding....'
Er, hello....are you not forking out big money to be able to fly to Thailand to be at your son's wedding?! Madness I tell you!!
Anyway, you lot have made me feel so much better. This was the first thing that tainted the wedding prep and I was gutted! You have all cheered me up and I'm glad I'm not on my own.
Thanks guys xxx0 -
Oooh nice hun.
You'll get it all nice and brand spanking new part of it burnt down last year didn't it and they rebuilt it?
It's a lovely place, i'd love to get married there but its too far for some people to go to for me.
I like stockbrook manor, thats beautiful ( i don't know if you've seen or heard of it) but so expensive!0 -
I think my it was ashwells that my friend got married at. She loved it there and it was absolutely loved it.
Yeah, we went to see the orsett hall and it's lush...very excited about going there.
We went to see Stockbrook as well, and as you say, expensive!! They needed a £2500 deposit within 7 days!! Er....no can do!0 -

Often people are known on here, more for their avatar than their username, even to the point I had complaints when I changed my 'eye' to something else and had to change it back :rotfl:Switch yours on in your 'User CP'
Its often easier to skim boards, by looking at the avvy rather than the picture, for someone you want advice or info on. So its just polite here, not to have same or very similar avvys!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
Yeah its really nice at Ashwells not too OTT the grounds and the place where it is, is lovely.. although i would of loved stockbrook, I can't justify the money (or afford it) and as you say £2,500 in 7 days is unrealistic.0

fantabulastic, future MILs, nightmare! Mine has told ALL the extended family they are NOT invited to the entire wedding, really upsetting OH, as they are all invited to evening 'do'! Currently doing some manic bridge building LOL:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
