MIL - expects us to pay for everything

To the the 1st poster, what are you prepared to do?

I think if it was me and my MIL, who can be a pitb but stays in her own home, I'd try to work out what I would do and then take it from there.
You say she comes over for 3/4/5 days and most days there is a pub meal and lots of drinks. So do you want to go out less or talk to her about sharing the cost?
If you HAVE to provide her nights beer then you either buy less, buy cheaper or shut up
Does you wife feel the same as you do? Would she be the 1 to talk it through?
Are you happy to be able to go out and use her as a babysitter but really she should then go home and out of your way.

You could always take her to the pub and talk to her yourself and not have your wife in the middle!

In the OP's position not only would I be buying the cheap stuff, I'd be buying the cheap alcohol-free stuff. Let MIL pay for her own addiction
