Thanks Paula!
Update - in short as i typed on the phone. Knew i wouldnt take half of it in otherwise. My heads too sore to fix it , sorry
xray - no growths or lumps
can see liver bit smaller like and expect, good thing - liver function test, bit of compromise -not serious. not hugely. White blood cell - granulafites - elevated in acute infection - indicates infection going on - not sure where, most likely the liver. tells him infection going on, blood cells dont tell u where infection is,
livers and kidneys - kidney working fine. look fine. liver smaller. elevation insome liver function test, infection affecting lvier., gave anti inflammatories, anti bis, some fluids, dehydrated, quite anaemic, normally red cells 13-15, Mags 9.7
long term infection issues. at this point - anti bis, keep few days. settle her down. problem - dont know how she is going to respond to treatment. feeling keep her until friday, knowhow responding favourably or other wise.
if not respond - by fri - quality of life. Decision.
If does respond, all being well she can come home
He said "we want to give her as forthright and agressive treatment as possible in a short time. cant say she will respond. Just have to wait and see"
They are doing their absolute bests. They have been so thorough and are so kind. When I have been stuck they have really helped me out in the past.:A
So I am going to call later and see how she is after some painkillers. Hopefully settled. Feel guilty I never thought to bring her blanket to the vets. Doesnt that sound so silly
I don't know whether to feel relieved or what. I really miss not having her in the house, but am really happy she is being lookd after very well. She may even come home a spoilt little madam.:oA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hopefully she does, but i feel a lot of relief now knowing she is being cared for. I had forgotten to take her blanket, so am going to drop it to the vets tomorrow, so they can take it to her in holywood. Thanks again, gonna ring at 730 see how she is doing.x
Update - vets said she is comfortable, is sleeping, and to ring again tomoro morning. They have gave her fluids as dehydrated. Theyre ringing me tomoro actually.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

If she's got an abscess in her mouth that explains a lot! The antibiotics will hopefully sort that out pdq, stop the toxins from the abscess getting into her system and bring her blood results closer to normal. One of the liver's functions is to remove toxins from the body - if it's not running at 100% then treating the abscess will help the liver as well as relieve the pain in her mouth. It's FANTASTIC that it's not her kidneys. I am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else comes to light. It sounds positive and I'm sure she'll be home by the end of the week. She'll be so happy to see you tomorrow with her blanket, bless! What's her name by the way?

Bum lost my reply
Yeah - i dont know how to feel? If she doesnt respond to treatment, it comes to qualityof life, and we all know what that means
But i was looking at pics yesterday and noticed how much she has shrank, and how much life she seems drained of. I was shocked yesterday when I compared. Wouldnt have thought to do this

Her yesterday, sitting on her favourite window sill
Also - I won't get to see her. She is in holywood and I am dropping it into Castlereagh road branch. I did ask about going to see her, but they said it would be to upsetting for kitty as she will be settled etc - so I understand. So next time I will see her, is to get her put down, or bring her home.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi Zippy
I'm sending positive thoughts that Maggie will be back with you at the end of the week. She's got all the help she needs, and if it's to be it will happen.
All the best.

Hi again,
Just wanted to agree with what Snowy said about the abscess - it explains a lot. My elderly cat had a similar thing, wouldn't eat, lethargic, lost weight, etc, etc. Once the abscess was discovered and the antibiotics started to work, he perked up and started to eat again. Elderly cats are very prone to infections, according to my lovely vet.
Really good news it isn't the kidneys causing the problems, hopefully the liver issue will clear up once the infection is under control.
Fingers crossed for you and Maggie over the next couple of days. Keep posting and let us know how you are both doing.
Lots more positive thoughts coming your way.

I seen the other vet earlier who hadnt seen the absess so she was going to look at it today. I think her liver, and being anaemic/jaundice etc and having an infection had taken priority. The female vet is lovely and kind, and she told me Mags is getting plenty of cuddles which makes me very happy indeed. The vet said she had curled right under her chin like she does with me, so im really pleased to hear that. Also sent her blanket down
Rang the vets and waiting for them to call me back with an update.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
