Just to let you know I'm thinking about you and Maggie. You've both really been through the wars lately.
Fingers (and toes) crossed for you both for tomorrow. xoNorn Iron Club Member 3300 -
well, it doesn't ever rain. It pours.
She has a massive heart murmur. Wasnt there last time, but the vet reckons this is behind all the other stuff , including her liver , and it's been working on her for some time.
Ive been given diauretics (sp) and have to watch her closely. The vet said she is not in pain with it or anything - she is not aware.
I have to watch out for change in her behaviour and the biggest thing to look out for is heart failure. If her heart fails, i didn't ask what would happen then, but I can only guess it wouldnt be good news.
So, it seems like we are coming to the end . The vet says she could have days or weeks. It's just very hard to tell to be honest.
I'm a sad Zippy, trying not to get upset about it all.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Oh no, this is terrible news. Poor Maggie...though it sounds like it may be worse for you than for her as she is not aware of what is going on. She is not suffering so while the situation is dire there is that to be thankful for.0

Thanks Snowy. The temptation is there to sit and bawl my eyes out but am trying not to.
Im devastated. I had hope - i was secretly convinced she was going to pull through and be fine for at least a couple of years. Now I have no hope to cling on to. Heart's as bad as it gets . It could literally be days or weeks. I don't know.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi Zippy,
I am so sorry to hear the news, I really feel for you.
As Snowy says, it's worse for you. Maggie isn't aware of what's happening and isn't suffering. Fingers crossed you can get her comfortable and stabilised on the diuretics for a while.
Take care. Hugs to you and Maggie xTRH

Hi Paula! Im sure people are scared to ask.
She is still with us, in great spirits, fighting about her going out, sleeping on my pillow, drinking from a pint glass, usual self. She has found a new bed in downstairs - but she does this. Changes beds every couple of months. The spare room is still hers. she still will only drink the water from the glass up there and sits on the window sill watching everything outside. Begging for food. Quite content!
I just feel every day I wake up and she is here, it is a blessing. Dont know how else to deal with it to be honest.
Thanks for the message.Ill get a pic of her up asap.
trying not to be upset round her. Cats are much more perceptive than we think.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry about her (worrying won't help and as you say, she may pick up on it) and just enjoy every moment, day, month and year you have with her.0

Hi Zippy,
Just wanted to second what Jon has said. Try not to worry (I know it's difficult) and enjoy whatever time you have left with Maggie.
Don't forget to look after yourself as well.
Thinking about you both and hugs to Maggie.
