poshstock66, you sound like you have renewed strength. I'm sure you can do it.

I've lost three pounds. :) I'm going to make the target this month. I hve a really low basal rate metabolism (seriously, its a medical condition :)) and I'm really, really proud of myself.

I'm working really hard to be proud of the 3 lb loss, not thinking about how long this will take in all! Trouble is, when you are more than a dress sie or two overweight its stones, not lbs that are really noticeable. :( Oh well, I'm chipping awy.

tara, just for you, I still feel strong, and I had a nicer idea than ironing, can you give your selve a manacure one night a week? The whole shabang from hands in gloves with moisturiser/vaseline through to painting nails and needing to let them dry properly, on your favourite tv night maybe? More glamourous than the ironing every evening. :)

Wow, a lot of you are doing well in the first week of this month arent you!

I wouldnt be surprised if I dont hit the 7 lb loss this month either as I dropped another couple of ounces today - Im amazed as I had stuck at the same weight for over 2 weeks really now I have eaten more, its falling off??

Still, as you say, dont question, just enjoy

OH said to me this morning, those trousers are very baggy arent they, why dont you get some new stuff - I said, I only bought these 6 weeks ago! He was well impressed.

Well done, thats the real test, clothes! I coun't care less what the scales say, if I'm looking good (and I'd like to be able to ride little ponies again)

hethmar, I put on 11 lbs very quickly last month (a fortnight) so 3 lbs off, seems less exciting. I am confident though that a lot of that will be actual chunk, not water weight. :)

You have so hit the nail on the head!!! Absolutebounder said something similar in another thread (people who are gaining weight feel that the temporary pleasure of eating chocolate etc outweighs the pain of getting fatter and it is only when the pain starts to outweigh the pleasure that we get serious about weight loss). He said it slightly differently but he was totally correct. Again, well done you. Did you feel hungry at the start with eating less and has that eased?

I did and it was really tough at first, especially as I tend to go to bed quite late so was getting starving at about midnight/1am. I had to have some emergency toast a few times but have moved towards a small snack about 6pm when I get home from work and having the main meal a bit later on in the evening which seems to be helping. It has definitely got easier though - perhaps my stomach has shrunk a bit?
  • Hi All

The Dragon many I join please on this, I weighed myself today, 9 st 9

I'm wanting to get back down to 9 stone, which is where I feel most comfortable at, hopefully by Christmas.

poshstock - I'm putting on weight too, it is crap isn't it? :o But we can overcome such setbacks, I know we can.

lostinrates, I like the manicure idea, must do that!

hethmar, that's great about your trousers!!! :D I sometimes wonder if I should wear more trousers, I live in skirts and dresses and they are a lot more 'forgiving' than trews... maybe if I wore trousers I would be forced to confront my weight gain as they would be so tight.

huston_kw, welcome to the thread!! I'm about the same weight and it is very hard to lose, how are you getting on?

Gosh, maybe it has!! You are doing really well anyway, and it sounds like you are making sustainable changes.

Today has been ok for me foodwise. I had 4 small squares of dark chocolate over the course of the day and they were so rich that I didn't want anything afterwards! Whereas with milk chocolate I can carry on eating more and more! Maybe the lower sugar/higher cocoa content has something to do with it. Anyway, I'm impressed. But it's only one day. Hopefully I can carry on into the weekend...

  • Thanks Tara747 - yes we can do it for sure!! Putting weight on is a no no!!
    I bought a top last week ( for my weekend away ) and it was a size 24... :T normally would be a 28!! :o can't remember when i was a 24!!
So my target is another 2st by xmas and hopefully be a size 20 - if i'm lucky! Sure helps if you have a goal in sight. :D Will mean that i've been on a diet for a year by then. Will have a few treats at xmas and then back on again....see if i can get to a size 16/18.

Well, today's going ok so far, Hubby and dd are out for the day so, just me and ds to think about. Had me special 'k' for brekkie, and nothing else yet. Will wait now for lunchtime as it isn't far away....rumble rumble....gonna have boiled egg's and soldier's and a ceral bar with a glass of water. chicken curry for tea - home made.

Might try that chocolate tip of yours tara, as i defo know that i can't eat that in the amounts that i can the dairy milk variety!! :rotfl:

Have a good weekend all. xx

huston_kw, welcome to the thread!! I'm about the same weight and it is very hard to lose, how are you getting on?

My weight gain is off quiting smoking 18mths ago, I was 8stone then, but I look better at 9 stone. The heaviest I went upto was 10st 5 - which was after I started at the gym put on 6 pounds in 4 weeks working out (I know the muscle fat thing) - last year I lost a stone doing the carole vorderman detox but put it all back on by March, that's when I joined the gym. I haven't been to the gym since the school holidays started and I've come down to 9st 9.

My problem is that I eat healthy see the scales change then decide to give myself a treat, which turns into a calorie feast lasting weeks and I'm back to square one. I can eat biscuits by the packet and the best thing is I don't enjoy them, I'm just bored, oh at work all day - basically I'm stuck in a rut.

But on a positive note I decided to join this thread (can't believe I'm venturing from the OS board), I've treat myself to some new products read these boards (I rarely buy anything new for myself).

The kids are back at school next week so I've canceled the gym (I know it sounds daft but I hate the gym - prefer dvds and I've got loads) so I've done myself a action plan, fingers and toes crossed I stick to it.

Any ideas are very welcome! and good luck to everyone this month!!!!
