I have some cream cheese that needs using up - some plain and some with garlic and herbs, so I will be making a tomoto and onion sauce, pureeing it, adding the cream cheese and using that as a stir though sauce for pasta. I also have a couple of bits of gammon steak lurking which I shall chop up finely and add. Serve with green salad - yum.0

Gosh i'm really tired today, all that country "fresh air" has knocked me out, not used to it of course living in old smokey! plus all the swimming and riding might have something to do with it!!!
Fancy doing the fish pie this week, so am off to look for the recipe on the recipe board.

Tonight we are having stir fry beef (left over from last night's roast) with beansprouts, green beans, onion and peppers and a sachet of blackbean sauce (40p - probably most expensive ingredient!) with noodles.
Tomorrow is salmon fishcakes (reduced, in freezer), Wed is Quiche (reduced, in freezer), Thursday is Slow Coooker night (chicken casserole) and Friday HM pizza.
I have got into quite a good routine now of going shopping early Sat morning (by early I mean 10.00 thats early for a saturday!) when there seeems to be a lot of meat and fish in the reduced section. I allow £5 of my shoppping budget to pick up some bargains for my freezer and then write them into my menu plan for the following week. That way I can take advantage of prices but still plan in advance for ingredients and not buy more than I need.
Since doing this I have been able to buy different cuts of meat so Sunday roasts and then have fun deciding what to do with the leftovers. I have the week to trawl this site for ideas!Me debt free thanks to MSE :T0 -
Hi Shez, so envious of you - but glad you had a great time. We went there last Saturday for a day (Longleat) our neighbours had free day passes and invited us - it was brill - but was gutted that we had to leave at the end of the day. I do love it there so much.
Update on the fake tan. Last week I bought the Dove version as it was BOGOF in Asdas, and its fab, so much better than the Johnsons stuff. It actually smells lovely, whereas the Johnsons was a bit wiffy after a few hours! Much better colour from the Dove too.
Just need some blinkin warm weather now!
Have a great day everyone! :wave:Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Hmmmm, am now really suffering as a result of Blackpool - not a hangover per se (I didn't drink that much to be still suffering two days later) but have various bumps, bruises and muscle aches from jerky rollercoasters and two long car journeys. And a healthy dose of sun/wind-burn on the exposed bit of me between my neck and my neckline.
Wish I didn't have a night out planned  - will have to dose myself up on coffee to stay awake through this evening's show, and I also hope I have enough energy left to cook 2 portions of rice at midnightish once I get home - because the ONLY food I have left in the house is sausage casserole and if I don't do some rice to go with it, I'll end up having a shop-bought lunch tomorrow
Meal plan has gone out of the window (I realised that the only reason I didn't go too far over budget in Blackpool was that as well as my planned spending money, I'd also withdrawn last week's grocery money and not spent a single penny of it on groceries  - and as I said, I came home with just 58p left!)
So I will have to do a bit of homework in a spare moment this evening and work out what I might need to get me through the week. Think I have some value tuna, sweetcorn, mayo and wholewheat pasta - that should be a start - and I also have some arborio rice so can do some kind of risotto later in the week. Am almost out of laundry detergent as well, and will need to make sure I have the ingredients to bake something on Saturday to take to a shared buffet tea on Sunday. As well as maybe some flour etc. to try out my new (to me) BREADMAKER :j :j :j which was kindly donated to me by Ticklemouse(thanks TM!)
Am being taken out for lunch on Sunday (annual church choir lunch, courtesy of rich churchwarden)
Am aiming to come in £5 under budget this week as this will cover my overspend in Blackpool (I actually went £15 over, but had £10 in my pin money)
Right-o, back to w**k :rolleyes:Operation Get in Shape

Afternoon all,
It's been teeming down all morning. Thankfully I did the washing yesterday and hung it on an airer or two.
I did a whole load of weeding in the garden yesterday and started to look at my pots and work out what I need to do/get to make it look a little brighter. Unfortunately I didn't get around to mowing the lawn before the Heavens opened. I've just checked the weather forecast for the next 10 days ... and all it says is "rain" or "showers", so I don't s'pose the lawn will be getting cut for a while!
Most of the ironing completed, only the wet stuff to do, which I may knock off this evening.
Looks like everyone had a very jolly time in Blackpool, the photo's were excellent. TM didn't look how I'd imagined, nor did JackieO, Bargain_Rzl - I'd seen a photo of before.
Bargain_Rzl - my ma went to see Placido on Saturday, most enamoured she was! Have a good evening.
Working today and need to catch up with finances tonight. Although still full of cold, so may just have a bath, make a hot choc and go to bed and read a mag! (Oh the high life!)
MushyPeas - ((hugs)) to you
Moggins - Positive vibes to you. At least the rain may help you to not want to venture outside for a ciggie.
Elona - ((hugs)) to you also.
B - Toast with blueberry preserve
