Hi everyone :hello:
I've returned from my hen party  It was lovely to have all my friends in one place, especially as they come from all over the country and from different "parts" of my life. It was a relief to see that they all got on! When I arrived at the hotel, they were all waiting for me with bottles of champagne. A lovely surprise, as you can imagine! We spent the day at the races, followed by a cuppa back at the hotel (really hardcore hen party this!), dinner and drinks in the bar, sitting round chatting until the small hours.
One of my bridesmaids gave me a mini scrapbook with messages from most of my friends and pictures. It was a really sweet thought from them and something that I will treasure.
When we were in the hotel bar, one of the other residents came in and found out that it was my hen party. He'd been at the races with his friends and was a little worse for wear. Anyway, he offered to buy me a drink. Cheekily, I said "champagne". He bought 4 bottles between 11 of us!  :j :j :j :rotfl:
OH went to watch the rugby yesterday. Unfortunately our team lost, but it sounds like they all had a good time - he went with his dad, one of his ushers and my chief bridesmaid's husband.
This week is going to be quite busy. We've got to talk to the photographer, I'm having a hair trial, got to choose our gift list etc etc. I'm exhausted thinking about it! OH is having the whole week off work, so we will be able to get things sorted at leisure(ish)

Hi all!
I'm new to this board, but I feel like I've found my spiritual home
Yesterday was spent sorting out fabric scraps to make into a lap quilt for my mum. Today will be making a wholemeal, dough-based pizza (with homemade tomato topping), and adapting a blouse sewing pattern to actually fit me!
Hope everyone has a great day, and I hope to be able to contribute something soon!0 -

Just got back from another bruising morning on the allotment, but it is looking a lot better now, I found some strawberry plants under all those weeds with baby fruit on!!!!!
Chicken in the overm tesco had the 2 for £5.00 again so we will be having 4 chicken meals this week!!!! also prepared the veg etc.... we are having strawberries and cream for dessert. I bought a box cheap on the market, they are lovely, so sweet...... I had some on my melon this morning.
I was preparing my melon last night when I finished cutting it off the skin the melon shot off and disappeared down the back of the cooker, we had to move the cooker out and wash the dust off the melon, could not believe it when I saw it shoot off and vanish!!!!!!!!!!
Well I am off for a well deserevd cup of coffee......... if I have not lost at least half a stone when I go to the Doctors in two weeks I shall be really disappointed, apart from Sundays when I have two little pieces of dry roast spuds I have not had any carbs at all this week, do not feel any thinner though..............

VickyA - sounds like you had a whale of a time yesterday, that's the sort of hen party I like, a nice quiet affair but still lots of fun!
Catznine - Cheesy feet sound great, I had been meaning to make the cheese biscuits the boys are out swimming at the mo so i think i'll nip off now and make some!
Had a long lie in this morning, DOH and I had a late on last night sat up talking and doing internet excel quizes til nearly 3am  that and the wine caused me to stay in bed
Went to mums for luch as per a normal Sunday then we took some flowers to dads plaque at the cemetary where his ashes are burried. We then nipped off to Tesco to see if we could catch anything in the 20% sale - managed to get a dress and a tankini thing for my hols!
Just made some pizza dough which is rising nicely in the kitchen for tea
Breakfast - lunch
Lunch - Roast beef, mashed pots and swede, cabbage, broccoli, stuffing, roast pots and parsnip, yorkshire pud

Had planned on mowning the lawn for my daily excersie why the boys are out but I can't find the shed keyso that will have to wait

The new freezer does look as though it will hold as much as the old one. It also looks much nicer,is easier to use and the drawers that pull out make backache less likely and I am less likely to "lose " stuff that is then way out of date.
Spent this morning doing everything but sandblasting Dad's bathroom basin to get the grime and limescale off it! After nearly two hours I managed to get it gleaming and just about as good as new.
DH and DDs have gone to the hospital to see my dad with the two freshly washed, ironed and starched pyjamas from yesterday and a little more clean washing as well.
I have a cold that has just started so have not been able to go the last couple of days because everyone on the ward has a very low or non existant immune system due to chemotherapy- so a "sore throat" and "sniffles" that do not bother me that much , could be dangerous for people in the ward, including my dad.
This was explained to him yesterday, but he still made a fuss about being "abandoned" by me and complained that i was "ignoring him!"
Sitting here trying not to cry in frustration! He refuses to allow an alarm sytem in his flat and only wants two visits a day when he gets home - even with three visits a day and the alarm system I would still be worried sick about him!
Just started sneezing all over the keyboard - so it is probably just as welll that I am such a selfish and evil person that I did not go tonight!
Put on another load of washing for my daughters as their stuff has really been neglected recently and Dad's washing has taken priority.
Oh for a decent drying day!
Hugs to those who need them."This site is addictive!"

Hi all,
Being cheeky, starting the new day's thread before even going to bed, but didn't post on yesterday's and only got in half an hour ago from my evening in the pub with OS buddies Shez, Catznine, Mr Catznine, SnowyOwl, and friend of SnowyOwlUnfortunately RacyRed and ms_london didn't make it
We have had a v. nice evening in one of London's more salubrious Wetherspoon establishments... lots of red wine, Sunday roasts (try the new veggie option, it's delish) and HUGE puddings... especially shez's treacle pudding!! :rotfl:
So, in the manner of the post-Blackpool thread, a brief rundown would be as follows...
Shez - lovely. Very - well, unpretentious and normal, and a bit wicked. My kind of person
Snowy - very laid back, likeable and witty..
Snowy's mate - v. gorgeous and classy! Not sure she quite knew what to make of the rest of us... LOL!!!
catznine - very funny and VERY classy... and she spent most of the evening apologising for...
MR CATZNINE... who made dreadful jokes all eveningbut was v. funny, not to mention generous with the drinkies at the start of the evening when only a few of us were there.
Just having a brief chat on MSN with some other OS buddies then I will be off to bed for a blissful night's sleep and an even more blissful Bank Holiday lie-in! There is photographic evidence of the night out but I shall save that for the REAL morning
Also am downing copious quantities of water, because not only did I drink rather a lot of wine, but what with various helpings of coffee, diet coke and tea, I realised not a drop of pure water has passed my lips all day. No wonder I feel dehydrated!!
Anyway, off to bed in a mo, see you in the morning!
