Happy Sunday to everyone! I've got a full day off work today, DD is doing a sponsored 24 hour thing with the scouts so just DH and DS at home with me. Going to make some 'lemon fork biscuits' a Mary Berry recipe in a min whilst listening to Sunday love songs. WM is on but TBH I've got nothng planned for the rest of the day, just a (rare) lazy Sunday. Hope you have a good day and the sun shines on you all.

OK if you are skinny, slim or trim, I am obviously not talking to you!;)

I love Old Style, love my Panny, loved BS fruit cobbler, etc. etc. but my waistline was rapidly expanding and I was beginning to feel like a blimp, especially being in my fifties and fighting middle aged spread.

Well, since I have stopped my OS eating I have lost 1/2 stone and need to lose quite a bit more.

So unfortunately, Pannikins lies unused and unloved at the moment.

How I wish I could eat those home-made scones, pancakes, bread etc, but my body just will not allow me to!!

There is a thread further down "Making toffee in the microwave" - I love toffee - this is pure torture :D

    Morning everyone :hello:

A lovely sunny morning here so will be able to get outside later and do some gardening and hanging out of washing (thanks to DS2 and bedwetting - another full load of bedding :()

Racy - only 20 years? Don't let it worry you. They say the more mature laydee can show these whipper-snappers a thing or two. Although, as my sister once told me, having to give them a lift home (ie mum and dad's) in the morning gets a bit embarrasing :rotfl: Mind you, he was only 19 years younger then her

DS1 has been delivered home smelling like a kipper :D He thinks camp fires are great but isn't too keen on having a shower ATM. Mr TM has had to go off again to keep an eye on the teenagers dpoing their various D of E exercises.

So, today I shall do some of those jobs I actually never got round to yesterday. Managed to shampoo 2 carpets and put WM on - that's about it. Did have my fillet steak and a couple of glasses of wine last night - Yum. Watched Doctor Who (I'm quite in love with him ATM too) then some bits and pieces but still never managed an early night, which I thought I'd treat myself too.

Ah well, may also make some sort of banana cake today - may try PP's fat free one :) Will pootle off to Tesco later to fill up my half empty freezers and see if there are any reductions.

Have a great day and make good use of the sunshine (if you have it)

    TM xxx

  • I've put on half a stone so far this year - I feel like I've been 'supersized' without visiting MacDonalds!!!

Can't you have some nice things, like your homemade scones, but as a treat only? I find that lots of people on here seem to be having puddings every day of the week. We only ever have a cooked time pudding like a crumble at the weekend, if we are still hungry on other days after dinner we'll have some fresh fruit or a yoghurt.
I think it is possible to be old style and pretty healthy as well, but you would probably end up spending more than someone who bulks their meals out with lots of carbs and finishes off with a rich pudding every day.

    Hi everyone,

I've merged the weight gain thread into the daily thread as this is where we have been asked to post the chattier threads on Old Style. Please see squeaky's post here for more details.

    Morning all

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend.

Catowen sorry about your barny with your mum hope you sort it out ok - it does seem to be a really difficult relationship for lots of people. My brother fell out with my mum (v long story) and they havent spoken for nearly 2 years. I honestly believe the reasons behind it have now been forgotten and the stubbornness rules. Please give her a call hun if you can - you just never know whats going to happen in life.

TM - Lol has Steve Martin been kicked out for the gorgeous Dr Who then? still have feelings for Christopher Eccleston myself!

Hope you all have a lovely time at the meet tonight and please take some piccies would have been there like a shot if I could have found a client who worked Bank Holiday to justify the trip.

Its still a bit miserable weather wise here - defo not good enough to sit out and enjoy my new garden furniture (which I have had for 2 weeks now and still not managed to use it:mad: )
Have a "meal in a soup" cooking in the SC - gammon and veg so just need to nip out for some crusty bread as the girls are coming round for supper tonight rather than us spend on our usual Sunday Italian meal (we are all saving for holidays up and coming)
Need to have a quick clean up soon too and then get the wine in to chill. (think its a lot easier to just go out!)

Anyway have a great day all

    Morning - just about.

It's beautiful here today. Didn't think i'd see any sun this bank holiday.

Managed a long lie in till 10:30. That was nearly 12 hours in bed, but obviously it was needed. We haven't done a lot so far this morning. DH cooked a big breakfast while i dealt with cats and got the WM on. since then DH has washed up and got the WM on again. I'm still slobbing around on here, but oh well.

We had thought about going to see the da vinci code today, but it seems a shame to waste the sunshine. Might do some gardening instead this afternoon.

Popped to my mums yesterday afternoon, and babysat my 8 month old nephew for about an hour while my dad washed my car. He's a really good little boy, but boy does he wriggle. I was glad when it was feeding time to strap him in the highchair.

My sister has set a date for getting married ~(June 16th next year) so i will be being a bridesmaids twice now next year. I can't wait to start organising that one with her.

Mum was a bit disappointed as my bump appears boy shaped. I hope she won't be too upset if i find out that is the case at the scan. Mothers! I know exactly how you felt yesterday Catowen.

Pooky's cake looked fab didn't it. Sounds really easy to make too, so i might have to remember that one. Kids love gooey stuff like that don't they.

Sounds like there will be quite a few of you at the meet tonight. Have a fantastic time.

    Best get on anyway,
    Michelle, xx
