I hsve just got back from a vsit to the quilt show at Malvern, good journey down spoilt at the end by a huge traffic jam, there was a marathon in the same area on the same day, it took us 30 minutes to travel less than a mile. Bad organisation somewhere by someone, all the Traders were complaining that they did no business for the first hour and a half.

Not a bad show, but I think that I am getting a little more piccy some of the quilts were awful some were beautiful...............we missed the turning on the way back and ended up having to do a 50 mile detour around Leicestershire to get back on track, oh well the countryside was lovely!!!!!!

Pork chops for supper................diet out the window today will be trying harder tomorrow................ I needed a carb boost to keep the energy levels up today walking around the show and then having to drive home.... OH seems to have had a good day on his own, clearing out and generally enjoying himself.

I am quite tired now, hopefully will sleep better than last night, a couple of large glasses of red wine should help too.

Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

    Total so far £14.00!!

My dad's company built the new Glyndebourne! (So you know who to blame ;)) It's very...modern, but having an evening picnic in the gardens is just lovely. Sadly, whenever we've gone we've not quite stretched to the butler laying out the silverware on the balconys...

    Today I've managed to:

Make bread - it went a little iffy, but I rescued it, just about.

Re-pot the bean plants into a huge trough with canes so that they'll stop trying to escape out of the window.

Infuse three small jars of vodkas with ginger, cloves and lavender as an experiment.

Make tomato & lentil soup - it was for lunch, but there's 2 more helpings in the freezer now.

Made stock from frozen veg scraps - the whole house smells of cabbage!

Tried to make yoghurt, but it went wrong :( Will have another go tomorrow when we've some pans spare.

We also did a little grocery shopping and the meal plan for next week is on the fridge, even if Tuesday is currently "something new..."

Mostly though, I've been reading, pootling online, or snacking. It's absolutely pouring it down over in Tyneside; my fault, I shouldn't have watered the plants this morning. We did clean out the Freecycled coffee machine though, and I have a gingerbread latte in front of me. I can't figure out the steam attachment, but it does a good (huge) espresso.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have whipped cream on my nose :D

Funny, that - me neither :p

I like the thing in the brochure where it says "Helicopters may land by arrangement" :D :rotfl:

I'll keep going to Glyndebourne on my £14 standing tickets, I think, while maintaining my "investment" of £2 a week on the lottery :D

    Hopeless!

Meal planning consists of using what bargains I get in the fruit and veggie market & the reduced aisle every week lol!

I am a decent cook though so get away with it as I can get a meal out of most variations of ingredients and I'm good at keeping kitchen basics (flour, sugar, spices) stocked up. I also like cooking from scratch - used to make my own cleaning stuff but I've got the feeling that'll fall by the way side a bit now I've discovered stardrops.

For xmas I've joined organizedchristmas.com so I'll get reminders sent to me in good time. I'm buying/making one pressie a month this year so it doesn't all come a big shock at the end of the year. I'm writing down what I've bought for whom so I don't double purchase. In years gone by Xmas used to destroy my budget and I'm determined never to let it happen again.

Housework I follow the flylady.net calender for "zones" each week as this keeps me on top. the emails bug though so I dn't sign up for those. I do use her idea of a kitchen timer and doing it in 15 min bursts as I found this worked well around my baby rather than trying to do it all in huge chunks.

Bills have to be paid by standing order or dd or they don't get paid on time.

I'm naturally very disorganised so have had to find "props" to help me all my life as it just doesn't come naturally. All the clocks in my home have always been 15 mins fast to ensure I got anywhere on time! At work I have a list for everything written down so I can't forget. I irritated the hell out of "naturally organised" boyfriends when i was younger.

What I lack in organisational skills I seem to be able to make up for by being very creative. Often my friends will "organise" while I create - eg I'll come up with activities and bake cakes/picnic stuff for a day out with the kids and they'll sort out the train times, meeting points etc. That way we all use our best skills iyswim and all have a far better time than we could have done had we done it alone.

The term scatty mare could have been created for me.

AussieLass - have I got that right? Is your daughter on Big Brother!!!

Bargain Rzl was correct. She was in the audience at last night's eviction show. Sorry about that. :o She didn't like it. Found it pretty fake. They told the crowd when to clap and cheer etc. It was better on tv. Plus the girl that was evicted DD wanted her to win. :p
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Bet I cross post with someone ;)

It's raining and miserable here in Oxon, and is supposed to remain like this all week

WM and TD are both on, packed lunches are all made, DD's dresssed for school and I'm sat here in my towel ;) I'll get dressed in a mo and clean the bathroom before the school run.

    Have a great day everyone!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Good morning SOMO1 (and everyone else!!!)

Im surprised im up at all today, had a lovely day with our friends round yesterday, however we now have 4 empty wine bottles in the kitchen, and somehow it was my friend and me that drank most of it!!!! Im surprised we were still standing, but we had a lovely time and i feel fine this morning, which is good!
Have a busy day planned for today, have 3 little ones here, and also need to go to the shops as we have run out of apples and i need some more veg, so will brave the shops with the little ones (brave or silly, not sure yet). The SC has been on overnight with the chicken carcuss in, so will be making chicken and veg soup later, need to get the WM on and do some cleaning, but considering yesterday, its not to bad here!!!
Well, the first little one is here, so better get started,
    Have a lovely day
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
