Not sure whats happened this month, I have kept all my receipts - they are somewhere but I have no idea how much has been spent and I had to replenish my food account with money from my already overdrawn bank account yesterday as my food account does not have an overdraft facility and as I dont have internet banking for that account, am never sure how much is left!!

I need to work out what works best for me. Im planning but not sticking to it. I had two home delivery shops this month and because of bad planning, some stuff is now out of date. I really like the convenience of home delivery as the local shop in my town is more a metro and is pricey with limited choice. I cant carry much on the bus so love having all those heavy things delivered.

I suppose I should just eat until the cupboard/fridge/freezer is bare and then at least i could start afresh. It would no doubt make for some very strange meals. need to do better however and asap. Typical example, went in tesco this morning for a melon and some dissolvable asprin and ended up spending £17.00!!! say no more!!

Sorry guys - I am not keeping up! Work and family keeping me very busy! Have just updated my sig with spends from last Friday's 'big' shop and smaller shops on Saturday and today. Have just over £40 in the budget left which I am quite happy with as will not need to buy anymore meat before the end of the month and we are out next Saturday (MIL's birthday- different budget!)

Hugs to all who need them.

I went to Tesco (big mistake!). I spent 74.13, which leaves 19.94 in the pot. I am not at all sure I'll get to the end of the month on budget after today's ridiculous shop. You may say well, you bought so much, there must be a lot of food in your house now...... you'd be wrong. I have been really silly indeed, got all caught up in the offers and came home with more bleach to disinfect 3 hospitals, 4 bottles of zoflora, 320 PGtip bags.... need I continue? I suppose I could spend the next 9 days drinking tea and cleaning the bathroom.....

A big big hug to Firefox. I hope you find the right time to tell your family and friends soon, and that they will shower you with love and warmth:heartsmil
  • Decision made - I went shopping with some friends this evening as they were going anyway and it meant saving on fuel - we put our shopping through the checkout together in order to use my £8 off £80 voucher as i would never be able to use it on my own.

I managed to spend £15.84 on olive oil, plus nuts, jumbo oats and dried fruit for muesli, food for picnic lunches for 2 days and a jar of honey. This leaves me with £14.38 to pick up some veg at the beginning of next week.

Firefox - hugs from me too.

greent - I hope your OH finds a new job soon

fedup&skint - the pasta, salmon, peppers and cream will go well together. I would save the cheese to go with something else.

  • Hello all

Hugs to anyone going through a difficult time at the moment.

Tonight's tea was a "free" meal concocted from leftovers - 4 leftover sausages chopped up and 4 leftover meatballs (also chopped in half to make it look more), reheated and added to a basic tomato pasta sauce and served with pasta. It was really tasty and just goes to show that it is worth saving even the smallest of portions as they do come in useful. :j

Tomorrow it's baked potatoes for tea with cottage cheese for me (cos I'm cutting down) and cheese and beans for everyone else. I bought a sack of pots from MrT for around £3 which has plenty of large baking sized potatoes in it.

Bought rice on Saturday in MrT and was really confused by the pricing. The Value rice was more expensive than the normal Basmati rice and also larger bags were more expensive than smaller bags. You really have to study the price labels and not assume that Value is cheaper. So annoying.

Don't need to update sig as I have just had 3 NSD's :j

Have been too busy to go near a shop so that has been good. But now have about 3 slices of bread left and really need to get a few basics in.

I have cupboards full of food and quite a bit in the freezer (though have run out of sausages and that is what I really fancy at the moment:D - funny how that happens)

Have more courgettes so will make some muffins tomorrow night - should really make a big batch to freeze.

Off to bed now - see you all tomorrow.
  • Good morning everyone,

just off to make a packed lunch for work. Trying to be more organised in that department. Not that I don't have suitable foods in the freezer but sometimes forget to defrost overnight e.g. cold meats. and then I tend to just buy something at supermarket. This I know soon adds up, so this is my new habit for next month, add packed lunch menu into GC menu.

Hugs to all those who need them.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!
