Morning all! Am catching up on this month's posts - am up to page 18, so still a way to go!
So far this month I have spent £419.69 - leaving about £30 for the month - hmm!! But that figure does include a new kettle and some Xmas pressies (both of which could be included in other budgets) so I could reduce it (probably will take the xmas pressies off, tbh) Anyway, freezer is full, cupboards are ok and we have quite a bit of veg (but need more for guinea pigs) and just about enough fruit for this week.
OH found out last week that he's being made redundant - he only started this job at the end of April after redundancy from another co, so won't get any money. We have 'just' too much left from the last redundancy to entitle us to any jsa too - pain, as it's earmarked for paying it off our (115k) mortgage 1st Jan (can't pay it until then as we'd have a penalty re fixed rates) - whilst I'm thankful we have this money he has always paid his whack (and me until 3 years ago following the birth of number 3) and the only money we've received as top up is child benefit. However, enough moaning from me! Fingers crossed he gets something soon, though - as much for his mental state as for our finances (he has a long history of depression and suicidal tendancies)
Anyway, the posts I've read seem to show a good start to the month - so I hope it's continuing that way for people! I will look to reduce our budget next month, methinks - and may have to get creative with what we have
good luck to all - the end of this month is almost in sight!

I'm out of the game, guys. I know I spent about £41 this week but clueless as to what it was previous couple of weeks. Three weeks of estimates isn't really the point in the challenge so I am sadly bowing out. Good luck to everyone else (and hugs to Firefox x)Love and compassion to all x0

greent - sorry to hear about your OH's redundancy, especially as you've already been through it, what a shock for you.

I went shopping yesterday for potatoes, and - after checking all the Whoopsie spots in all the local stores - came home with.........
2.5kg potatoes for 49p from L!dl
Saw several bits that tempted me, but just kept reminding myself that
1. I have NO freezer space whatsoever
and
2. the vets bills have come in at just over £560 so far this month - with another injection still owed for when I pay for a check-up tonight (which I hope is the final one). Desperately need to claw back some of this money from somewhere - and my grocery budget is the only place with any scope for being reduced
As such I spent part of yesterday mealing planning to 27th November (!) based around freezer contents for most of the meals - and there's very little non-fresh food I need (sausages, fish in sauce, peas, sweetcorn, chips, garlic bread, pasta sauce and a couple of individual chicken pies), so I'm hoping to come well under target this month, next month and NovemberCheryl0 -
Firstly *hugs* for FireFox. Do try and eat something though. I went down a dress size at Christmas when myself and Mr Fresian had a (near-terminal) bust-up.
Back to my old size +1 now
Can I declare at £221.97/£250 please? :j Payday is on Wednesday and I have kept enough back for milk/bread tonight.
I would also like to budget myself at £220 for October. Thank ye kindly.0 -
I had a big supermarket shop at the weekend and spent €132.45 in total, plus €10 on fish in fishmongers (3 dinners worth) and €4.99 on 10kg rooster potatoes in veggie shop. (I was damned if I was spending €7.99 on 10kg roosters in S/M). Did have to buy a big joint of roast beef for IL's visit, and got a large joint of bacon whoopsied - so dinner sat, lunches Sun and for sambos and DD dinners later this week. And I also got whoppsied nice mushrooms, so made a lareg pot of soup for starters last night and DH and I lunches today.
It was our first supermarket shop in 6 weeks at home though, and I had needed to restock a good few things. I reckon that next week should be a small spend week again, and I think we've enough of everything except bread and 2l milk to get through this week.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
