confused over this - wouldn't he still be entitled to the contributions based JSA rather than the income based one?
Cool - looks like we'll get £"64.30 per week - won't go far - but at least it's something. Thanks for that!!

Hope he IS entitled to it - not sure of how long you have to have paid NI in what period to get it, but at least there's a chance of something (and every little helps)Cheryl0

Spent more than I'd hoped in Edinburgh last week as we were up there self-catering. Got to go into supermarket this afternoon for some basics now we're home, but it's going to have to last!0

He's been paying NI continually since about 1988 - so that should be long enough(thankfully when he was made redundant from previous job he started one the following week - so no gaps in NI history)
Thanks again:T:T

I think the world and his wife have been reading about Tesco's £2 chickens, as there were none whatsoever at that price or any price in there yesterday, and was looking for a large freerange one, usually they're easy to find, guess people had gone with chicken in mind and bought what was there when the cheap ones ran out!
Became very money saving though for me, as ended up using pies from my freezer! Also had plenty of veg in from bargains at Lidl and Aldi, god bless them both! Haven't used leeks for ages due to the silly price of them, but since Friday and getting some in Aldi for 49p I've made two lots of soup with them, served them with dinner yesterday and popped them in the potato and cauli bake today!
Have also been using lots of the pulses and dried goods that are in my store, well a big hessian Tesco bag under the brekki bar actually! Marvellous for making things go just a bit further or rethinking meals.
Whilst not officially joining in the GC at the mo, I do like to read and see how everyone stretches their money! So once more, thanks for all the inspiring posts.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Have now spent a total of £211.97 since 1st August out of my budget of £850 for the rest of the year.(including 2 weeks of cheating by being on holiday!)
I have also now spent my last few clubcard vouchers on groceries as nothing in the deals appealed to me and since MrT have stopped the 1000 point codes, I don't bother shopping there any more
So although it looks as if I have only spent a couple of hundred for 2 months food, it is nowhere near as healthy as it looks. Store cupboard has also taken a hit. I opened my last bag of sugar today and the baking supplies are very low. I have to confess to being a real hoarder and am now fighting the urge to go and buy a huge load so that the cupboards are heaving again!
So £638.03 left for 14 weeks. Have nearly everything for this week and will just need approx £10. Which will leave £48.31 per week until Christmas for four adults, which is going to be very tight
1. need to research some frugal new recipies
2. need to start whoopsie hunting more often
3. need to get an invite out for meals at Christmas!!!:rotfl:0 -
