Unlike you, I do not have money/familiy responsibilities but I sympathise regards your job situation- i am a gradute currently in a clerical job hoping for something more. Your job goal has made me realise if you can make time to strive for a new job, I also can be disiplined to do so. So from this week onwards i aim to apply for at least 4 jobs/wk [if i can find that many!].

[btw- i do have a student loan i just dont know what to do with!!]
    Hello :)

It is boring as hell looking for a job and can be demoralising when there is nothing or if I don't hear back, but I am setting aside half an hour every day to just go on the internet and check on some sites I have registered with. I'm also going to send my CV to some firms directly as that is how I've got my last 4 jobs in 16 years - never applied to an advert before.

I could stick with where I am but I know I could be happier elsewhere. Good luck, hope you find something!

You could lend your student loan to me :rotfl:

Can I jump aboard the Jobhunters Express? I will reserve my own carriage and tomorrow I am looking for a job. :T (I have the food carriage in mine so feel free to drop by for a cuppa and biscuits etc.)

  • Thanks everyone for your posts and support. I'd probs with getting logged on hence the delay in writing. Juat about to run out of battery power on the lappie so I'll sign off for now. Plans are afoot, not spending is the order of the day - a small inheritance has eased by mortgage arrears and allowed me to sleep better at night and not waking up with raking fear in my chest. Will take all the advice on offer - I need to make money as well as not spend foolishly. ciao for now - Nomonnofun

Absolutely the more the merrier! I will have to get my sledge in order to join your food carriage however!

Woke up to about 7 inches of snow :eek::eek: Attempted to get to work via train but turned around in the end as no point so working from home. Kids schools are shut and so it is just like the holidays all over again.........

Bonus is that it should be a NSD :j My marathon training plan however says I need to do 6 miles today :eek::eek:

Off for obligatory 30 minute job search - hope you're all ready to search!

:j TN free zone - please note the very thick boots I have on which helps me forget existence of said TNs!

Macgirl - are you going to enter Manchester 10K? Think I'll go for that one as I like it :)

I might, yes. I entered with work last year, but got the flu the day before, so was really gutted not to take part. I've never done it before, but had done lots of training, so was really ready for it. I then did the Leeds 10k in July but it was awful. The heat was unbearable and it was impossible to get into my stride or pass people as it was so busy, so will give that a miss.

The heat is something that puts me off the GNR too, as it always seems to be roasting...... (excuses, excuses :D)
  • The GNR was certainly hot last year, it was my first time, but other runners said it was hotter than usual - a far cry from today! - IMD - Good luck with the 6 mile run today :o - I did 2 and a half on the treadmill this morning before I had to stop and get ready for work, but I could have carried on - No chance of work today in the end. - My OH rang school to say he couldn't get in (turned back after half and hour and about 100 yards on the road) - Only to get a clever b***h on the other end who had a go at him - Guess what, less than an hour later I had a blanket text from the school saying it was closing urgently and could all parents collect their kids immediately GRRHHH!!!
IMD - I cannot believe you are running 56 miles - I am in awe - I managed the 13 (just) but feel I am not a 'natural' I still find it a struggle no matter how hard I train

Good luck In a Pickle - I chased up a few applications I submitted before xmas and applied for one more job. So some progress. Even if I don't get anything very soon at least I'm trying :o

Macgirl - might meet you at the Manchester 10k then? Want to try and beat my last time but I was injured and also had a toilet stop, so surely can do better.

Miss O - how irritating about School. Our local radio announced this morning it was shut for second day on a run due to staff shortages. Can't see it getting better anytime soon as started snowing again now as well. Two and half weeks with my entire family is slowly sending me mad!!!

Have been out for 6.5 miles after sledging and snowballing in the park - me working from home, of course :p Have a brilliant running partner who prohibits walking up hills etc so hoping he will make a real difference. Also think running in this weather, will make London seem like a breeze!

    NSD today :j:j:j

:o I haven't done a tap job-hunting so far: dog walking and too much time wasting online have been contributing factors. I'm going to peel the potatoes for dinner (else mum will kill me), THEN I promise I am going to sort out my CV.

    Bad, bad Pickle!

Sounds like a plan, though I have a feeling you'll be showered and in a bar, while I'm still running! :o
