Sorry for radio silence, been trying to work my way through the mess without drowning my sorrows in vodka.

Surprisingly OH is now on top form as he has seen how down I am and is really helping me work through it with ideas and staying positive.

Have chosen a car, spent more than I'd liked TBH but we need to think about the long term future with it. We have decided to go for something with low mileage and 4 years old. It won't be used loads so hopefully we should get a good 6 or 7 years out of it and our money will be worth it. OH's bonus will go towards it and it will simply be a case of setting us back a few months. I need to think about it that way or I will be utterly depressed.

Signed up for some review sites, TAB scratchcards, Bingopot and me and OH are taking in turns. We are also brain storming as to other ways to make money. We are definitely in it together but I feel completely emotionally drained.

Car insurance will go up a bit and until we see the colour of OH's bonus I won't believe it is coming. Signature is being deleted today for the simple reason I've updated the figures honestly in snowball not taking into account the bonus so I know worse case scenario and the fact of the matter is that it frightens the life out of me - however I still have the 5 year plan so all has not failed.

So off to play with kids for a while and STOP thinking about money and stuff just for a few hours :)

Sometimes things get worse before they get better, and this seems like one of those moments, emotionally and financially.

BUT, remember, that it DOES get better - and the main thing is that you are being honest about figures rather than putting them to one side assuming that they will sort themselves out by themselves. Remember when I took the plunge and confessed to my secure loan and money we owed family, adding it into my signature and my snowball? It felt pretty dire, and I hated extending my debt free date, but of course, prior to that I was just kidding myself, and so by being honest I actually started to make MORE progress as I knew exactly what the worst case scenario was.

If the bonus comes through - fab, the figures will come down again. If it doesn't, then its a bit pants, but you won't be in danger of not facing up to things.

Go and enjoy your weekend......we'll still be here when you get back xx

    Hi IMD

Sorry you're feeling desperate :( As others have said you ARE making progress. You're not having your usual expensive holiday this year, you have been ingenius in finding cheap yet fun things to do, and have Ebayed like a good 'un.

Someone on PAD said to me that I shouldn't stress over buying a car, and instead should treat it like a mortgage - necessary debt. It made me chill out about it and you should too. You've been sensible and bought the best you can afford and you NEED it, so it had to be done.

Try to have a good weekend and keep searching for the money making ideas - one just might strike Gold! :) Take care x
  • IMD probably without the car you could not work therefore could not pay the debt so its an investment in paying off the debt.

You'll get there because you are both trying so hard and the hard work now will mean greater gains in the future ust remember that, there is no way that it can't work if you are sticking to budgets and earning the money x

Thank you everyone, guess what it made me cry :o Have been like a leaky bucket all day. Spent the day with my mum who was brilliant and let me cry, moan and sat and thought of positives. I honestly utterly feel like saying f**k it to be honest, but I see the kids, house, cars and think of everything that would be lost.

Positives are that we haven't missed a payment for anything and there is no danger at the moment of that happening. I have spoken to CCCS who say we are not in dire straits as we can meet the minimum payments, but it sure doesn't feel like it to me at the moment. This is as dire as it feels.

OH said quite a sweet thing, that he knows I have understood the value of money and debt as he has never seen me so stressed about spending money and justifying it. He is right, it has been a massive diabolical learning curve but I have learnt. This really really is my last chance as if this goes tits up it is DMP or bankruptcy as far as I am concerned.

I need to get out of this black hole. I've been invited out tonight and only just decided to go. It's free as I'm being sober, cannot dare to lose it in front of friends who think I'm Miss Wadded so thick plaster make up, everything is alright with the world and I will have to listen to everyone talk about buying houses etc as that is on the agenda for a few of them. If one of them dares to mention the size of their savings I may deck them

Thank you for being here, I don't know if you know how much it means. Bizarrely I am more honest with you lot than anyone and it makes a difference to be supported.

I really hope this is the lowest of the low I can go as surely the only way from here is up.

Something to make you laugh - a *guaranteed* credit card application form today - yeah right :rotfl:
