lemon jelly would have made a much better point if he/she hadn't quoted the West Ham vs Milllwall game.
hooligans can't really afford to go to Premiership or even some Championship matches, they've been priced out and you dopn't want to be spending at least £100 a match to then get arrested. the face recognition technology to spot known hooligans works quite well for the police too.
most of the serious and more frequent problems at matches takes place outside of the Premiership and larger Championship teams at matches that are cheaper to attend... that's the better angle to support your argument...
and most of the trouble was caused outside the ground by those that did not even have a ticket, nor did they have any intention of getting one !Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

The match was a 12:00 kick off.
1000 police were in attendence.
This time it was an evening kick off, with pubs still allowed to open and only 500 police.
It is nothing to do with the economy but all to do with the history of this fixture and a fair bit of complacency from the police and West Ham.
The sight of assorted east London fatties was hilarious. Fashion capital of the world indeed.
if true millwall/west ham hooligans wanted a rumble, they wouldn't let a silly thing like timing get in the way....
its the extra hangers on in the pubs that get dragged out by the later kick off, the buster bloodvessels that got pi55ed up and ran on the pitch and then didn't know where to go !!:rotfl:Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

Thought I'd resurrect this as Birmingham City Centre experienced its second pitched battle in its street within a month this weekend. This time, 90 people were arrested. Previously, 35 people were arrested. Here's a link to footage & a report.

My point is that in times of hardship, people tend to look for things/groups to blame. I assume that it is generally accepted that in times of hardship, extremism can be seen to rise.
I'm not saying that the economic downturn is the root cause of this trouble, but again would like opinions on whether there will be more of this. A recent football match (Luton Town I think) had to be cancelled/postponed because of a planned protest by the casuals united group, and police advised the football club they couldn't police the match & maintain safety in the town centre.
Will the more extreme sides of society show their faces more?
I still think there is a lot of anger out there...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
