I was at a party on Saturday night (consisting of junior/F2 doctors) and every single person I spoke to was putting in job applications to New Zealand. Really seemed like there'll be a mass exodus.
A GP friend of mine recently moved to Oz.
As for riots...well they happened in the last two recessions.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0 -

Yes, but bizarrely, there are many who think the "masses" are comfortably placated, or not intelligent enough to cause any unrest (see earlier in the thread).
It is odd, because it is normally educated middle classes who stir up the working class who act as footsoldiers.
I still personally feel there could well be serious social implications. How long until someone cracks over the binman strike in Leeds? Or the postal strike having some big effects? Other sectors may take industrial action (eg in support, or for their own reasons) adding to matters. Crime such as fraud (benefit fraud, or commercial fraud) may increase, as people will be more desperate to earn cash. Robbery may well increase.
Good lord, I wonder how I'm gonna sleep at night! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
