Is there a way to give a poster a million thanks?!:T:D
I can almost hear the strains of The Liquidator...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Just the usual. Haven't even had chance to advise longtimelurker about our dogging habits yet...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Whoa! This thread took a bit of a left turn!
Back on topic, it seems there is still a fair bit of antagonism around. When this occurs, groups can get marginalised, as appears to be happening here:

Wondered if anyones opinion had changed, or if we're still as we were in our feelings about what is happening out there.
The police have run adverts about christmas rape, & will start their drink driving campaign soon. In addition, I've noticed a couple of forces have highlighted that domestic violence appears to be on the rise. This doesn't bode well for christmas, when we're all forced together.
In adviceworld, as in others, you'd get seasonal trends. Feb-november tended to be benefit queries & debt queries. January used to be all consumer queries (someone got me this gift & gave me the receipt, can I get the money back for it cos I don't like it/want it), or divorce/seperation (I've spent all christmas with him/her, I hate him/her, how do I end this?)
Could in home violence rise next month, and be another symptom of our anomie? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I cba to read 8 pages. So I'll just put in my point.
What about 'chavifcation'? Ie the process where people opt out of work/buying houses etc to increase their social mobility. Lots of people at the bottom end of the scale can improve their prospects by not working. Our current situation on increases the chance of this.0 -
Bloomberg reports that senior staff over at Goldman Sachs are said to have 'loaded up on firearms' in order to prepare themselves in case 'there is a populist uprising against the bank'.

Wow, pretty intense.
IIRC some staff of banks have recieved training on self defence & have also been advised not to wear uniforms on their journeys to & from work over the past 12 months, owing to fear of attacks from the public.
I see that Baroness Warsi was "assaulted" by muslim youths throwing eggs at her recently - she stopped & confronted them (not quite in the Prescott way though, shame).
Nottingham is on high alert as there is a plan for the english defence league or whatever they're called to have a demonstration this weekend. The anti fascist league have decided to hold a counter demonstration, so there will be a punch up no doubt. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
We now have people apparently putting kids into donation boxes to steal clothes that others have left for charitable organisations.
Where there's much there's brass I suppose.
I'd be interested to know whether they're stealing to clothe themselves, or to sell the stuff.
