I believe this is true for midweek staff.

The Argos week runs from Sunday - Saturday.
Weekend staff on a 7 hour contract at my store would start on a Saturday and do a 6-hour training day, then from the new week (Sunday) you would start your contracted hours.

Yes, that would be right I was just thinking about the weekday staff.
  • i would like to ask wat the times for the work shift for the morning, after noon, evening and nite shift are
  • Are those with retail experience put at the top of the queue in regard to the criteria for offering a job interview? I have applied to a few retail stores, and always get knocked back. They never give feedback, so I don't know exactly why. I do suspect, however, that the rejections may be attributable to the fact that most of my work has been in the office/admin field, and have only had a bit of Xmas temp retail experience here and there.

I hate it when you go through all the lengthy online form filling in for these retails jobs - only to be knocked back, again and again.

    Hi everyone.

Just wanted to let you know that Argos stores are now starting to put out Christmas temp job application forms. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them on here and I will be glad to answer.

p.s. I'm not an official Argos online representitive (read the signature :D) - just a happy worker who started as a Christmas temp in 2006 and is still there!!

Best to ask at your local store when you hand in your application form as stores have different opening hours.

It's different for different stores, you would need to ask the store you are applying to.

It depends on what type of retail experience/how much experience they've had, better chance if you have worked at Argos before I suppose.

A piece of advice to everyone thinking of applying, the recruitment sessions are starting within the next week or two, so you need to do and hand in forms NOW.

Truegho - my advice is be as flexible as possible on the form, that's one of the key things we look at, usually those people who can work mornings, afternoons and evenins every day of the week are considered good! (but they would never get 7 days a week lol)

I mentioned in another post somewhere I think that depends on the store you are applying to. There are three stores in my town, and to the best of my knowledge my store and another store offer 17.5 hours over 5 days Monday - Saturday (i.e you would get a day off if you worked on a Saturday), or 17.5 hours Monday - Friday if you were prepared to do late evening shifts, 3.5 hours over 5 days, or 7 hours over 2 days (2x 3.5, weekend Saturday and Sunday, or 6 hours Sunday).

My store and this store don't take on 17.5 hours over 2/3 days because it would cost more to have 1 person in for 7 hours than 2 people for 3.5 hours.

On the other hand, the third store in our town I think the manager has one or two members of staff on 17.5 hours who do 3 days.

You'd have to ask the store you are applying at, but mainstream I think it is 17.5 hours over 5/6 days midweek, 7 hours over 2 days weekend or 6 hours on a Sunday.

FFR Sunday is time and a half rate.

this will be my first assessment, i have never worked and never been to any kind of interview :S
