My son was told to attend in smart casual and he went in his usual college outfit of straight grey trousers, shirt and tie and with a cardigan over the top (He assures me this is an Indie look for anyone young enough to understand the term
)
He got a phone call next day to say he had the job and he started the same week but as he was already in a weekend job Argos made adjustments for him so he could work his notice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's what most the boys were wearing. They were dressed more smartly than the girls. Most had come straight from college or 6th form.0 -
Hi -My apologies if this has been stated on a previous page. I've looked through briefly, but couldn't find some things.
I'm having my induction tomorrow - It's only a smallish store. They state it's from 9.30am - 1pm. From previous experience, is that the normal hours for inductions? Also, what is included in the induction? Videos etc? Anything else? Do you get your hours weekly for the week ahead [I'm a Christmas Temp]?
Also, as my induction is tomorrow, when am I most likely to be starting work? Friday, the week after ? ? ?
Thanks for any help you can provide
PS Strangely enough, I didn't have to have an assessment, just a one - to - one interview. I wonder why that is?0 -
I can tell you what would happen at my store although it could be different as it’s a large store. I assume your weekday staff? Do you know your contracted hours? Based on what you have said probably 16:30 per week.
At my store, tomorrow would be your start date and you would be working Friday and Saturday. The first couple of days will be the induction. This involves completing forms, watching lots of training videos, looking at training manuals, being shown around the store, being shown how to use ladders, cages ect... You would then have to go on the computer based training and complete a load of legal declarations and tests based on what you’ve learnt. This would take more than one day if it’s being done fully.
After you have completed the induction you would start in the stock room. I doubt you would be on the rota for next week so someone will just tell you your hours.0 -
Thankyou! I've been told I'm on a 15 hour contract. I wasn't too sure about it all as I'm on holiday Friday 16th Oct for one week [I told them this at the interview]. I was a bit worried it woulld affect me starting asap, though I'm not sure.0

Most likley they will have you working the rest of this week and next week until your due to go away. I would make sure you mention your holiday when you go in tomorrow just to make sure they are aware0

Hi I had a call this morning from argos, they asked me if i could attend a group interview on thursday at 5.45, but as I had just woken I was disorientated and not quite with it, so im not sure whether they ment this thursday, which is 2moro or today technically as its past 12.00 or the following thursday.
Would they ring me and ask me to go to an interview the next day??
thanks very much!!0 -

I have an assessment on Sunday, sooo nervous lol0

Just got back from my assessment an hour ago. There were about 50 of us! Just the usual... split into groups, chat to someone for 5 minutes, then introduce each other to the rest of the (small) group, then 'design a customer service superhero' and present to the bigger group, then a small quiz using the catalogues in the smaller groups again, and finally an individual test on whether two sets of numbers match up.
That was it - they'll call or write in the next few days.
