i think it went okay... it was better than what i expected. there was about 20 of us?! and first we had to get into pairs, interview eachother and then report back. of course i got a girl who was really quiet and would hardly talk, so that wasnt brilliant. then we had to get into teams and create a superhero and incorporate fast, efficient and friendly into it. wasnt too hard, managed to give ideas and get involved i thought. there was 6 of us, i would say 3 of us were trying and getting on with eachother etc and the other 3 just sat. however for a lot of the time when i was giving my ideas the woman wasnt even watching us! had to present it back, then finally we were given an individual task. given two lists of catalogue numbers and had to see whether they were the same or not and tick/cross a sheet, then we had to put catalogue numbers in numerical order.

that was the end of that, then they said if we were successful they would ring us within a few days, if not we'd receive a letter within the next couple of weeks? :S
i havent heard back yet, and it was on sunday, so i think if i dont hear by tonight i haven't got it.
oh and they said if we pass the assessment we then have to go in for an interview, and then we might get the job.
    fingers crossed!

I had to attend an assessment night yesterday. There were 35 people there - mainly teenagers but a few older people (like me!). We had to talk to the person next to us for a bit then tell the group about that person. Next we were split into groups of 8 and given the following scenario - A customer has approached you. She has just found out that her family from Australia is coming over for Xmas. She needs to get her house ready for this. She currently lives in a small 2 bed house that is only furnished for her. Create a shopping list for her.

So we had to think of things including furniture, decorations, entertainment and presents. We then presented the list to all the people. Bonus points were given to a group that mentioned spreading the cost on an Argos card.

It really wasn't too daunting or difficult. There are current staff members observing and taking notes but it was very relaxed and informal. I was shocked by what some people turned up wearing though - ripped jeans, trainers, leggings, flip flops and dirty feet. Nobody was in a suit but probably best to dress up a bit.

Forgot to say - we also did a numerical assessment. Had to say if two catalogue numbers matched or not (there were about 10 pairs) and then put some catalogue numbers in numerical order.

Eeep, flip flops and dirty feet... that's disgusting! I've been invited to an assessment night tomorrow, and the person on the phone advised me that it was a smart casual dress code.

yeah, me too, out of the 20ish people that were there i was one of three who were in smart dress. everyone else just wore normal clothes!

made me feel a bit stupid :S

anyway, heard back, got a letter, i didnt get the job :/
    back to square 1!
